      Third, are you going to start up a website? Or are you going to use pay per click? If your budget is low then PPC is not the right way to go. Unless you have great knowledge in PPC, if you do then go for it. If not , start a website/ word press blog to get a website going to show your products that you want to sell. The advantages to PPC compared to a regular website is PPC will give you keywords that people use to buy your product. This will take a couple of days if not a week as to compared to an seo website that you have to guess to see which keywords work for you and are buying keywords.

      Another question, are you SEO savy? If so great then you know what to do to rank.
      Now you will want to find a niche product, Niche = a product that is relatively new and is going to catch on fire really soon. Next thing you need to look at once you pick a niche product is how much commission the company you are going to be an affiliate of is going to give you. 10 to 20% is the norm. This is great but if they are selling products at a product then when you sell a product for you get a dollar commission.       If you understand that working with a drop shipper means that you sell the product and they stock it and ship it for you and affiliate marketing where you market another vendors product for a commission when a sale is made then you need to ask yourself what you would be more comfortable doing and what you think you could make money doing.

      Both types of business you will have to do the same thing as far as marketing the site to get the traffic you need to make a conversion. Just because you publish a website for either type business doesn't mean you are visible to the search engines and the public at large, that takes work to get that ball rolling. I would suggest that you go to an article directory an put in an inquiry about the things you need to do and I will also give you some info on some of the things that need to happen to get started.

      If you plan to incorporate then you need to register with the federal,state and city government. If you plan to run the business as a sole proprietor then all you need is a business license from your local city government. Some cities do not require you to get a business license until the business makes ,000 to ,000 so see what your local government requires for an e-commerce business.

      Steps for getting started:
      First and foremost write up a business plan.
      1. Forming the business either through incorporating or as a sole proprietor. If you plan to incorporate then you need to get with your states Secretary of State to do this.
      2. Find your SIC and NAICS code you will need either one or both for your business formation with the government entities.
      3. Getting an EIN if required
      4. Setting up a Franchise and Excise Tax and Sales and Use Tax account with the Dept of Revenue in the state you are in. You need to determine if you need one or both of these accounts. Just call the Dept of Revenue in your state and they are usually pretty helpful in answering all your questions.
      5. Set up a business bank account or bank account with a DBA attached to it if you plan to do the business as a sole proprietor if you incorporate then a business bank account is what you need.
      6. Set up a merchant and or paypal account. The merchant account you can set up through your bank and this allows you to take all major credit cards.
      7. Build a website and get a domain name and hosting. You can either build your own website or have one built for you, some start out with a blog because it's free and you can make it look like a standard website so take a look at this option and see if it will work for you. Just keep in mind if you use a blog you need relevant content in the body of the blog if it's just full of product links then you will eventually get shut down. As far as building your own you can either buy software or use the online website builders. Using the software allows you to create your site how you want it just make sure the hosting provider you use will support the software, with the online website builders you will be limited to their templates and I believe you have to use their hosting but you can buy your domain name from anywhere and just direct to their server.
      Research SEO for your website, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and you can read about this at any article directory. Once in the directory put in a search for what you are wanting to read about and you should get some articles to read up on. If your search comes up empty or not what you are looking for just reword the search until you do. The info is there you just need to use the right phrasing. If you are on a tight budget you may also look into free ways to market your site.
      8. Get inventory.
      9. Figure out how you plan to ship product. This all comes down to how you plan to handle inventory. Some people have their own and some get involved with companies that have the product and you sell it and they drop ship the product for you. This saves on you having to carry the product yourself and having unsold inventory in your possession. If you plan to do affiliate marketing then you need to sign up to the affiliate programs and get your code specific links to post on your site.
      10. Marketing your website. Just because you publish a website doesn't mean it's visible to the search engines and the public at large so you need to submit the site to the 3 top search engines at the least and start marketing the site.

      If you already have a business and a customer base, it may not be a bad idea. If you don't have a customer base, then you have to think about how you can get one.

      Here's how affiliate marketing is most profitably done. Suppose you have a website for bicycle enthusiasts. It gives tips for beginner bicyclist, how to get started, tips on buying a bicycle, and maybe even a free weekly or monthly newsletter.

      Now suppose you've dealt with a bicycle manufacturer that's reputable, you've bought stuff from them before, and they have a quality product. You can put an affiliate link on your website suggesting your visitors check the company out. If anyone of your visitors purchase a product, you get a commission.

If on the list it checks out (you may have to do some research) but if it all checks out, then you can chose to do it. IF it's a business, don't just try it. You need to devote time and effort into it and build it. If your going to just try a business, you will most likely fail! So here's a few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company.
      1. How long have they been in business? We checked to see how long our company was around, at the time it was nine years old and now it's 15. Do you know when they started? If it's under 5 years, then their is a risk factor
      2. Are they registered with the BBB. Ours is registered. I think this is important one.
      3. Who's involved with the company? Like in ours Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki has endorsed our company. Many actors and actresses, business owners, government officials etc use our products. Check to see if anyone has endorsed this company. Also, meet with the co-founders. We've personally met our co-founders and found from our first meeting that they were incredible people with incredible visions. See if their's a time where you can meet them. If your going to be doing business, there should be a time where you should have the chance to meet with them.
      4. What is the compensation plan now, and what was it like before.
      See the history of the comp plan and see if increases and never decreases in it's history. We checked with the records in our business and found that in over the years, the compensation plan had only gotten better each year. As long as we've been involved, we've now witnessed the compensation plan always increasing. Check the history on yours.
      5.Have they been featured in magazine's? For instance our company has been featured in several magazines Like Success, Fortune, USA Today etc. Check to see if they have. You can get a lot of information on the company by reading about them.
      6. Has Inc 500 rated them? This magazine or slit rated our company the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it's first 5 years. Inc 500 shows the top 500 businesses in revenue growth. Check to see what Inc 500 rated the company your looking at.
      7. Do they have a physical address that you can go to? Check for an address not just a P.O. Box
      8. Where are their headquarters? Our world headquarters is in Farmington Hills Michigan, Personally been there, (If your here in the states) Other headquarters in different countries. and US headquarters in Charlotte.
      9. What does the start up cost take care of? If there is no start up cost, what will you have to be dishing out and for what? In my business headquarters takes care of all the billing for my customers, Inventory, Customer services, Order Entry, Employees, workman's comp, Cross referencing, Licensing, Insurance, paperwork, accounts payables, accounts receivables etc.
      10. What is the product and service you would be selling.
      Is the product and service in high demand? For instance we offer services that people are already using every day and paying for anyway, but at a lower cost. Things like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, cellular phones through all the major cellular providers. We make a percentage every single month they pay their bills. Everyone uses them and everyone pays for them. When money gets tight, would they keep your service or be able to run to the store and be able to purchase them on sale? Leaving you to have to wait until they run out of what they just purchased, or wait until their finances get settled? This is what I mean by high demand.
      So many different things to check out in making sure a business is a good one to get involved in. If the business feels right to you, and all questions are answered and you feel good about it, then I'd say jump in. Running a business is different then a job though. You have to treat it like it's your child and not just something your going to "try" you have to believe in the product and service and go at it full force. This is your future your talking about, no one else's.
      I hope my examples of what we looking into with our business helps you be able to find the same answers in the business your looking into. Forget about asking the common question and asking someone how much they make in their business to determine if you'd get involved in this or not. In a business, it doesn't matter what one business is making over another. It only matters what you do in "YOUR" business. I hate it when people ask me how much I make. Because they're not going to walk into and start up their business making what I make. I've been involved with my business for over six years. So yeah, I will make more. If you tell someone how much you make, then it's a psychological thing that they expect to make that amount in a week, and that is just not going to happen. Six years of building a business verses 1 day. So don't even ask. Look at the possibilities for YOURSELF.

      you report any and all your income from this enterprise on Sch C and if the net amount(income less business expenses) is 0 or more you will report on Sch Se and pay approx. 15.3% self employment tax
      since you started this in Feb. and it appears from your question you have not prepaid your taxes on 1040ES each quarter, you are possibly due a penalty for underpayment and some interest as well
      half of the SE is a credit to reduce your gross income
      this is earned income so you may be entitled to EIC as well, and the Make Work Pay credit

Or Perry Marshall or even the Rich Jerk. You wont have to worry about taxes until after this year is over.       1. Your website is too wide of spectrum, and you need to be more focus. Website which has too wide of topic range will be hard to get targeted visitor. REMEMBER, TARGETED VISITORS MEANS MORE SALES.

      2. Place in you website more meat ! There is lots of subtopics, but there is no relevent content to support the topics. Without content, visitors will first see you affiliate link or banners which will be a big turn off.

      3. Generate targeted visitors. you said you have lots of visitors, but are they targeted? Generate targeted visitors by using article marketing, forums, social website and etc.

      4. Patient - how long have your website is up and running? If it is still new, then you need to give it time and constant effort pushing traffic to thw website.

      5. Improve your adsense feel and look. it should blend with your website. This could give you some cash too.

      It is amazing how many people have spammed your answer as well with absolute garbage. It is ridiculous anymore.

      In response to the first comment:

      No it will not increase your sites "popularity" as the network redirects a link through them and internal programs will be penalized by Google, etc.... if they are not using a nofollow tag to let the bots know that this should not be a backlink.

      Plus most affiliates will add in a nofollow piece to the urls to prevent you from getting an SEO boost on their expense giving you an advantage within their niche making it uneccesary to have them.

      To response #2:

      There are costs involved, you pay on each sale, you pay network percentages, start up fees, man hours fulfilling orders, labor charges monitoring for trademark bidding and adware users, as well as time spent recruiting real affiliates who do not try and cheat you using adware and scumware.

      The benefit they were trying to point out though is that after incurring all of those fees, you now only pay when a sale is made. However if the sale is made by an adware user, you are now paying when the affiliate does not even earn the commission, they just steal from you. To prevent this you will need to hire firms which can manage programs for you and will protect you from these toolbars and adware installs. The firms that will actually care about you are few and far between. A couple I trust to do this are:

      Also, the affiliates that will avoid your program for paying less than 50% commissions are probably not good affiliates anyways. If you want the ones that move products and can generate sales on actual physical products in a legitimate way, you will want to use a network like Share a Sale or Performics, or Commission Junction or Linkshare.

      Now be very cautious on the network as most of them will push adware on you and list adware affiliates as their top performers on their homepages.

      This is just my opinion, but avoid Click Bank if you have a product you want to move and join an affiliate network and not a CPA like CB. Also, percentages work at 2 and 5%, it depends on the industry. 3-5% is great for electronics, 7-12% on clothing is good, 5-10% on sporting goods, 6-12% on contact lenses, etc....

      When you find a hot niche you will need to milk it for all it's worth! which means setting up a website with articles on the niche you have chosen,plus the affiliate products you want to promote on there as well.you could also set up an autoresponder so that you can catch peoples email address so that you can carry on selling to them even when they have left your site.
      You will also need to write some unique articles based on highly searched for keywords that have low competion anything under 50,000 competing pages should be fine,submit them to ezine articles and include your link to your website in your authors resource box,try to write at least one article per day.
      if you do not want to pay for a website then you can easily set up a free blog with either blogger or wordpress.
