  Is this your first experience with affiliate marketing? From talking with other marketers and my own personal experience, affiliate marketing is a lot more difficult than it would seem at first glance. How much can I expect to make on an given affiliate marketing product is certainly a good question to ask. Unfortunately, it is not an easy question to answer.
  
  There are many variables to consider as I would try to answer the question for myself, if I were in your place right now.
  
  The first question I always ask myself is, "would I buy the product at the price listed?" If I would not buy it at the price, I have to ask myself "How much of a market is there for this product?" Obviously, I can't make money with affiliate products unless someone is willing to buy it.
  
  I also want to know some background about the company and their financial and management history. If I am going to spend my time and money to promote a product, I want to know the company will be around for a long time.
  
  If everything is fine so far, now we need to define exactly who makes up the target market or markets we want to reach and we need to know where the market segment spends their time on line. Even though we might say everyone should be interested in food, not everyone would be interested in cooking lessons and recipes.
  
  I have listed only a few of the variables which will determine how much, if any, money you will make with a given affiliate marketing product or program. Others like your web site, well written marketing letters, advertising, followup and how many other people are marketing the same product or program, will also greatly affect how much you will make.

  I spent many years doing affiliate marketing poorly so I'll share some of my experiences.
  
  (1.) Be sure you have a PROFESSIONAL looking website. I have a website sitting at http://www.xspirulina.com that I paid someone in Serbia to do. The purpose of the site was to see if the product would sell and at what price. Well, about 50% of the people who got to the first page left. Why? I don't know for sure but my guess is because it looks like I paid for it.
  
  (2.) Do some research on SEO or pay someone to do it. This is worth GOLD. If no one can find your site then you're not going to sell any items.
  
  (3.) Have a good understanding of Adwords before diving in. I spent a fortune on Adwords when I first started without much to show for it. Why? Because I had a rosey outlook for things like conversion rates.
  
  (4.) Know that very few people make a fortune at this. If you work hard and long -- 5 or 6 hours a week for a full year -- you'll start to see returns.   It can be a long haul to reach the point that you can work full time as an affiliate. Particularly if you want to learn on the cheap, you would probably want to do a couple of hours in the evening after your regular job.
  Bear in mind, affiliate marketing is a business, not a job, there's no guaranteed pay check for a weeks work, in fact if using PPC sort of paid traffic you can expect to loose money for a time, while prospecting for a winning ad-product combination. Spending some money on instructional material might actually save money by shortening the initial fumbling around period, which causes many frustrated would be affiliates to quit before seeing a profit.
  You might be able to find some 2nd tier instructional video on cickbank that's a rehash of the big gurus advise for around , I find it helpful to look over someone's shoulder at first.
  
  Search the web for affiliate forum, you should be able to find discussions by people in the trenches, while affiliate oriented blogs will offer helpful free articles, you can find lots of tutorial information on using adwords ppc on the google web site, though google is making it tougher for affiliates, who they view as unneeded street hustlers.

He tells you that the best way to advertise your webpage is google adwords which is totally false. He tells you that you will only have to pay about 5 to 25 cents per clic and that you will see crazy amounts of money coming withing the next few weeks. Totally false, google charges about .00+ per click or sometimes more if you want to be in the 1st page for this keyword and related keywords. There is also no way to see if you are making any sales right away because since they are the middle man they can intercept them and take weeks for them to post them in your account so forget about twitching your marketing campaigns if you see they are not working because you cant see anything . If you make money or not is not important to them because most people dont. As long as you sign the contract you are doomed. I promote online games where players make real cash deposits and can win real money. Each player is eligible for a bonus comp on their deposit. Meaning, if Player A deposits 0 they receive a 0 bonus.

If Player A loses, then they lose not only their deposit but also the bonus.

At the end of the month these bonuses are deducted from the Gross Gaming Revenue of that month. However, I don't see how each bonus can be deducted if the player loses this back to the house.

If Player A receives a 0 bonus but loses the bonus, then the house is neither ahead 0 or lost 0, they are in fact even.

If Player A wins and makes a withdrawal then yes the house is out the 0 bonus. Then and only then can the house deduct this loss of 0 bonus from the Gross Gaming Revenue and of course any winnings cashed out by Player A.

However, and maybe I've got this wrong, but how can a 0 bonus be given, then lost, effectively being returned to the house and then being deducted? That doesn't make sense.

It's similar to me lending a friend 0. At that point I'd be out 0. However my friend returns the 0 and I'm back to square. I'm neither out nor ahead, I'm square again.

My question, given what I've tried to explain above, does this make sense, or am I being diddled on bonuses being deducted when they should not be deducted at all?

  I would personally recommend Visual Basic .NET. It has the fastest learning curve, and it is now fully Object Oriented, just like the C family of programming languages (C, C+, C++ and C#), and it takes advantage of Microsoft's .NET framework.
  
  But remember, learning a programming language is like learning words in a foreign language. Unless you know the syntax and grammar of the language, along with euphamisms of the language, it won't do you much good.
  
  And programming is very literal. You can't say "go to the store and buy some milk and bread. Make sure you comb your hair before you go out. The money is on the counter."
  
  From a programmer's perspective, the person receiving these instructions would first go to the store, TRY to buy some milk and bread - unsuccessfully - then go home and comb his hair, then take the money from the counter, and then stop his activities, period.
  
  Before you can even begin programming, you need to learn how to use the programming "environment", Visual Studio Express edition, which you can download for free from Microsoft.
  
  To be a good programmer, you need to be able to analyze a problem, break it down into it's component parts, then describe each action in the correct chronological order.
  
  Of course, there are programming techniques you would need to learn, such as how to sort a list of names or numbers, et cetera, or how to access data from a Database system.
  
  Then, when you have finished the program, you need to be able to "debug" it - find out why the results are not what you expected.

  the one thing you have got to remember with affiliate marketing is that it is a process and not a get rich quick program. I know that all of those training program being sold show in their sales pitch that you can make tens of thousands of days in just days using their program but what they are selling you is the fundamental knowledge on how to set up an affiliate program. It is up to you to take that knowledge and apply it. Ok, I'm not gonna go crazy into details here but this is my vision.

I have always been above average in computer skills, and thrive off of learning how to do new things.
After many years, I have acquired many talents. Web design, Graphic design, Network penetration/intrusion with linux. etc. etc.
In the back of my mind I guess I always hoped these skills would start to pay off organically, But this has not been the case.
Some people are naturally good at marketing and making business decisions, however, this has been one of my weak points.
No matter how beautiful or informative a Web Site I design, I have yet to master the art of making it profitable.
So now on to my point. I need a partner / partners

Someone who either has skills similar to mine, or skills that will compliment mine in business.
Perhaps some marketing skills? knowledge of affiliate networks and how to use them etc.

Im not looking for anything extremely specific. If you feel like you have great ideas or know how to work well with great ideas, perhaps we can make money together.

  Sorry but, in my opinion I would say that he does not love you any more. You are the one making all the effort by trying to hang out, go places, and you even tried to talk about it. Right now it seems that he sees you as an annoyance. At that point, the more you push the more he will pull away. You might have to let him go.
  But after 3.5 years I know that would be very hard to say good bye. So do this You start separating yourself from Him. Stop asking to visit him or hang out. Only call him 1-3 times a week. Start Hanging out and going on trips with your friends. After a while if he starts trying to connect with you again, be open to talk with him and see where it goes from there. But if after a month of two he puts in no effort then you know that it is time to move on.

Im thinking about going to Uni to study something computer based.

I've been a avid computer user since i was very young and it seems like the obvious career move. I mainly enjoying using tools such as Flash and PS. Hobby wise i make animation shorts and use photoshop to create different things like avatars and desktop wallpapers.

Im also into building websites, although i mainly use basic wordpress templates then edit them myself using WinSCP.

Career wise i think i would suit the 9 till 5 working week, and i dont mind being mainly office based. I have looked into many different ways of making money without being involved with a company and the building and sale of websites/landing pages sounds very appealing.
Currently im a barman, and have been involved in the catering industry since i was 14 and hate it. I would definately say that i have had enough of serving the general public. I'm working on a website which is going to make money through affiliate marketing and conventional banner ads. Can I use pictures from Flickr under the CC Non-Commercial licenses family? For example, I would have a page on New York and would have an affiliate link to Expedia.com. On this page I would use a picture under this license. I am ok with linking the picture through to the Flickr website as well as of course naming the source and author but would this kind of use (display on one part and earn revenues on another part of the website) violate against the rules?

What I want to do is to first start off with a small independent local free weight exercise and running club/business. All running an exercises will be performed on public grounds.

My experience - I have been through Army Basic Training, and AIT. (maxed my pt test in AIT). I am currently on the reserves, and I believe that a part time job like this could bring in some extra income to help me pay for school. I like to help people, and watch them improve. I am very fit, but will become even more fit before I even think of starting a program like this. I have also a good name for my club, and have promoted fitness products in the past with affiliate marketing, and this allowed me to learn a lot about the fitness world.

I am good at marketing so I believe I can get a good amount of customers.

I haven no nutrition or fitness degrees or certificates. I know this will help and if I decide to go along with this I will definitely need invest into it.

So, lets say I start this club or business. I will most likely let people try it for free, and then charge them a beta version since I would be new to this, and explain to them why I am charging a small price.

I am just concerned about liability. What if one of my customers or club member gets seriously hurt while under my "teaching or instructions" and they decide to take legal action against me. I of course will be making everyone sign a contract, waiver, or agreement beforehand. I am not sure how much good this will do.

I don't have tons of money to spend on a lawyer also.

I looked into clickbank but they only accept e-programs and currently I'm not selling via download. Do I pay by commission or a flat monthly rate for a banner etc,? Where can I go to find affiliates?   I would suggest that you look into signing up with a reputable Affiliate Marketing Company which will already have a network of Affiliates. You will of course need an eCommerce website, and there will be a setup charge that you will have to pay up front. How much you have to pay in commissions however is up to you, but bear in mind, that the less you are willing to pay in commissions, the less will be your chance of getting the best affiliates. Commissions are usually a percentage of sales.

My brother is 27 and has been trying to start his own affiliate marketing business for 2 years now. He's been taking at home courses and learning on his own part-time 2 days a week and he works part-time at an ad agency the other 3 days. He really has a drive to want to work for himself, which I certainly admire and appreciate. The thing is that his approach has resulted in very slow results, and him having to be 27 and living at home with our parents.

I feel like I need to give him advice, but I want to do it and still be sensitive to his ego and support his dreams. He is very very opposed to having a full-time job and trying to make this work. He told me he doesn't want to be a corporate drone - which I honestly feel is an immature attitude that shows his lack of experience and maybe that he's a little intimidated by the corporate world.

I've had the desire to take the freelance route, but took the approach to establish myself in the industry before-hand and to surround myself around and learn from people who have similar goals to me and have had much success from it. I want to try to make him see the light, about this, but every time I bring it up, he gets really defensive and makes it seem like I'm attacking him and criticizing him, which I'm honestly not trying to do, I'm just trying to help him see the light to a more thriftier success path. Anyone out there have any experience with giving defensive relatives advice? I feel like him being so stagnant with his life is causing us to become distant. Thank you very much in advance.

  Do not come to him in a condescending way..come to him more as a friend. Explain to him how you had to give up your dreams of going the "freelance route" and had to establish yourself in the industry before-hand and that probably would be good for him too. Explain to him that you love him very much but that you feel he may be taking things too slowly and not seeing things for exactly what they are and that you have some good advice for him if he would like you to share it with him. Tell him a thousand times you love him and that you really want the best for him. Good luck.

First off, a little back story so that you'll understand everything. Basically, didn't do that well in High School just getting low B's and High C's despite the simplicity of those courses. I just didn't think any of it would be that important at the moment, and now its coming back to bite me in the a$$.

Well sort of anyway, I spent the time I was supposed to be doing homework learning computer programming and other divisions of computer science. I graduated high school May 2009, and wasn't sure if I wanted to go to college yet so I gave myself a year off.

Now it's January, and I'm wanting to go to college. I just took my SAT's and will be getting my scores back on February 19th. I've been looking at Colleges such as:

Rice University (First Choice)
Harvey Mudd (heard this school was tough, but i've always liked a challenge)
University Of Texas at Austin (School i've always dreamt of going to)

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

I am VERY interested in genetic programming, and have been toying around with it lately. I am also well versed in OOP principles, and making flexible, reusable, and extensible programs. I have experience developing software for clients via freelancing websites such as rentacoder.com and scriptlance.com.

As you might be able to tell, I am very confused as to what I need to do now. I was wondering if applying genetic programming to solve some sort of problem would increase my chances of getting into these schools. Would any other type of computer programming projects help my chances of getting in? Is my real world software development experience helpful in getting me into college?

Also, my family is making little to no income right now so I should be eligible for financial aid. I have found a ton of resources online, but I'm not sure what to do with all of them. What the hell do I do now?
It's been almost two months since I've started university, and already I've dropped out of classes. Since I haven't been submitting assignments for the mandatory requirements, I've automatically failed at least one course. I dropped out because I've been working full time as an internet market affiliate. Another reason is I don't want to waste 4 out of 10 of the best years of my life stuck here. I know this is complete reverse psychology, and potentially mad. On the other hand, in my country, university is subsidized, so only about ,500 US has been wasted. This was my parent's money.

So the problem is that I've been lying to my parents, and saying I've been doing okay in my university courses. They will probably find out in a couple of days, unless I do some elaborate lying, but I'm sick of it. To be honest, I haven't made any money yet as an affiliate, but I hope I will in about a week. Hopefully in a couple of days, actually. After this, I will check my lottery ticket, and hopefully that will solve my problems. Do you have any suggestions?

We have just created and started an eceommerce (for selling /reselling websites) Affiliate programme. We have decided that we want to keep the programme independant initially, but are not sure of the best course of action for the speediest sign-ups of new affiliates. Its a superb and generous commission, and promises bonuses, plenty of customer incentives etc, so should ultimately be very acceptable to many affiliates. Changing majors, do i have to write a letter saying why i want to change?
I'm currently in my 3rd year of college seeking a bachelor degree in Forensic Science. When i was 17 my brother and i started an affiliate market research company. We never expected it go anywhere but it did. As the company grew, we started making more money, started spending a lot more time on it and less time on my studies. I'm currently 22 and making over 0,000 with the business. I spend MOST of my time with the business as opposed to studying for school. My grades have been steadily declining because i don't have a lot of time for Organic Chemistry, Forensic science and Biology courses. Over the years building our business has becoming something i've fallen in love with and more out of love with becoming a doctor. So i want to change majors to something easier b/c chances are i'm not planning to find a ,000 job with a bachelor degree when i'm making more than 0,000 now and the business is still growing. Should i write a letter saying i want to change majors for these reasons or should i not include these reasons? Or do i just go up to the office of degree change and say i want to change majors and the next day it's changed? How does it work?
