Affiliate marketing in simple terms means that you sell or get leads for other peoples/companies goods or product.       I don't know anyone who is affiliated in affiliated marketing. So I can't really answer that. but I do know, that you wouldn't be owning your own business unless you invest money into it. By means of a start up cost, or buying products yourself and re selling them, advertisement or something along those lines. Owning a business is not free. I wrote some things down that might help you to see for yourself if this is a good business to get involved in, using my business as an example. If on the list it checks out (you may have to do some research) but if it all checks out, then you can chose to do it. IF it's a business, don't just try it. You need to devote time and effort into it and build it. If your going to just try a business, you will most likely fail! So here's a few things that you should take a look at before getting involved in any company.
      1. How long have they been in business? We checked to see how long our company was around, at the time it was nine years old and now it's 15. Do you know when they started? If it's under 5 years, then their is a risk factor
      2. Are they registered with the BBB. Ours is registered. I think this is important one.
      3. Who's involved with the company? Like in ours Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki has endorsed our company. Many actors and actresses, business owners, government officials etc use our products. Check to see if anyone has endorsed this company. Also, meet with the co-founders. We've personally met our co-founders and found from our first meeting that they were incredible people with incredible visions. See if their's a time where you can meet them. If your going to be doing business, there should be a time where you should have the chance to meet with them.
      4. What is the compensation plan now, and what was it like before.
      See the history of the comp plan and see if increases and never decreases in it's history. We checked with the records in our business and found that in over the years, the compensation plan had only gotten better each year. As long as we've been involved, we've now witnessed the compensation plan always increasing. Check the history on yours.
      5.Have they been featured in magazine's? For instance our company has been featured in several magazines Like Success, Fortune, USA Today etc. Check to see if they have. You can get a lot of information on the company by reading about them.
      6. Has Inc 500 rated them? This magazine or slit rated our company the 22nd fastest growing company in revenue in it's first 5 years. Inc 500 shows the top 500 businesses in revenue growth. Check to see what Inc 500 rated the company your looking at.
      7. Do they have a physical address that you can go to? Check for an address not just a P.O. Box
      8. Where are their headquarters? Our world headquarters is in Farmington Hills Michigan, Personally been there, (If your here in the states) Other headquarters in different countries. and US headquarters in Charlotte.
      9. What does the start up cost take care of? If there is no start up cost, what will you have to be dishing out and for what? In my business headquarters takes care of all the billing for my customers, Inventory, Customer services, Order Entry, Employees, workman's comp, Cross referencing, Licensing, Insurance, paperwork, accounts payables, accounts receivables etc.
      10. What is the product and service you would be selling.
      Is the product and service in high demand? For instance we offer services that people are already using every day and paying for anyway, but at a lower cost. Things like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, cellular phones through all the major cellular providers. We make a percentage every single month they pay their bills. Everyone uses them and everyone pays for them. When money gets tight, would they keep your service or be able to run to the store and be able to purchase them on sale? Leaving you to have to wait until they run out of what they just purchased, or wait until their finances get settled? This is what I mean by high demand.
      So many different things to check out in making sure a business is a good one to get involved in. If the business feels right to you, and all questions are answered and you feel good about it, then I'd say jump in. Running a business is different then a job though. You have to treat it like it's your child and not just something your going to "try" you have to believe in the product and service and go at it full force. This is your future your talking about, no one else's.
      I hope my examples of what we looking into with our business helps you be able to find the same answers in the business your looking into. Forget about asking the common question and asking someone how much they make in their business to determine if you'd get involved in this or not. In a business, it doesn't matter what one business is making over another. It only matters what you do in "YOUR" business. I hate it when people ask me how much I make. Because they're not going to walk into and start up their business making what I make. I've been involved with my business for over six years. So yeah, I will make more. If you tell someone how much you make, then it's a psychological thing that they expect to make that amount in a week, and that is just not going to happen. Six years of building a business verses 1 day. So don't even ask. Look at the possibilities for YOURSELF.

      There is no definitive guide as such, but there are some great resources out there to help. There's a site called utalkmarketing.com which has a digital section- http://www.utalkmarketing.com/Speciality.aspx?nav=speciality_digital
      It has a best practice section with case studies and also a basic info section if you are starting from scratch. The great thing is, they are all written within the last 6 months or so. Another way in is to look at some books although a lot of these are too old as online marketing is constantly changing. There's one i use called 'Marketing Through Search Optimization: How to Be Found on the Web' which is a good jumping off point and was written in the last 2 years. I hope this helps.

      Do not buy any guides. I am sorry, some of those are written very well, but you cannot learn affiliate marketing from any books. I even paid for expensive training and they did not teach me anything! Uh...Anyways in November I signed up with wealthy affiliates and that is where I learned my trade :) I am full time eBay affiliate now and have a free basic training if you want to go that route, but if not I strongly suggest you sign up with them plus you will get personal assistance from me on anything you may need! My business costs me around /month and I am making good money. It is not excellent yet, but I am hoping to average around 5K by this summer... 3 major sites up and 2 small. I am stay at home mom so I spend around 35 hours a week working on this, but I love it! So don't waste your money please, WA is place to go...You will learn your trade with them because they have 8 week training for us beginners and constant help.     How and where can I create a simple web page (landing page or squueze page) with my affiliate link? Please, once again regard me as an absolute beginner and tell me the step by step process of how to set up or create my Affiliate web page as I really do not know how to.

    How to ensure the necessary traffic of potential buyers to my Affiliate web site so that I really start seeing some concrete results that's making money online? If it's Pay Per Click that is a solution, please guide me step by step on how to create successful money making Google Adwords campaigns. Or, do you suggest anything better than PPC?

      I find it interesting to post such a question on something as public as Yahoo Answers: I wonder how many people will post dozens of affiliate links to GRQ programs etc!

      Personally, my experience of affiliate marketing is making a little income through Amazon Associates (laptops and books) and a Wholesale Directory. In every case, the pages with the links on weren't especially promoting the product in question. You could call this 'passive affiliate marketing'. I did have a lot of traffic though until I sold up.

      My current website, I'm focusing a bit more on active promotion where I feature and talk about the product in question.       I know you're not going to like the paid material, but Affilorama offers a free level of membership which is quite good.       Making money on ANY website is all down to the number of visitors. The more visitors you have the more you will make and the more options you will have. Take Facebook for example... with so many millions of people every day going on that site, and most having it open all day long the potential to earn billions from this is so real.

      If you cannot make money from a good program like Adsense so far than this means you likely don't have enough visitors.

      Concentrate on getting the site seen before you even consider making any money on it. You are a long way off that yet.

      You could sign up on dating forums and put your URL in your forum sig, make some posts (not spam) and you would be surprised how much traffic that can bring you and it would be targeted traffic - people with an interest in your niche - it can bring a good conversion rate with it. You could always pay someone to post for you if you prefer.

      Also, make sure you are promoting your site well with off page SEO eg gaining backlinks through blog commenting (on relevant blogs), directory submissions, perhaps write and submit dating articles to article directories etc. Doing this should improve your SERPS ratings and bring you organic search engine traffic.

      Your first step is to be aware that you are competing with a LOT of people on safelists. Most of them are not there to actually read emails and ads. They are there to advertise their own offers and, in exchange, they have agreed to receive other ads and offers.

      So your first challenge is going to be capturing their attention. That is the job of your subject line. It has to be compelling and it has to quickly answer the question that is always on the readers' minds:

      "What's in it for me?"

      If your subject line doesn't scream out a major benefit right up front, your email is lost in a sea of other emails that are going out in that same safelist.

      You may have to test a few different subject lines to see which one is working the best for you.

      Next comes the body of your message. It has to answer the same question:

      "What's in it for me?"

It is not their goal to provide a copy for each computer owned by a customer therefore they have restricted academic versions to 1 copy per each qualified student/faculty. A full store version will usually allow you to download it more than once for all of your computers. Aprox 2-4 times per full version copy.

    As a student/ or faculty member.. you are eligible to purchase only one copy of each software at the educational discounted rate. There is zero difference in the software. However, the student version is only downloadable once and it does not come with the flip thru paper booklet guide. It just comes with the full DVD-ROM software sets. You can get many variations of these tutorial booklets in any case at Barnes and Noble or Borders books. And with the money you save on student versions, you will have thousands of extra dollars to buy all these frills and maybe even a new pc or laptop.     In the future; Should the product you purchase release a newer version you can then purchase 1 copy of the new release on your student id again and again and so on. If a street customer, or someone no longer enrolled in school needs more copies of a particular software.. they would need to then purchase the commercial version product at full price. But for all the extra money they will also get the tutorial flip thru paper booklet with their full version.

    If there is more than 1 academically qualified person at any same residence, additional academic proofs can be submitted on that home account to allow additional purchases of a desired product to be made. Instead of just one per houshold. The internal tracking at Adobe is just to make sure who and how many they are buying. And they generally track purchases by address and name to prevent Scam and Software Burners from ordering tons of all the most expensive programs. You can buy only one of each of any software set or program as a student. There are dozens of varieties and you are able to purchase one or all of any/all of them. Adobe programs need a key and a serial number to be activated, they come with this in the DVD-ROM software case once verification has been submitted.

    To buy from a student on ebay, you will want to make sure the student has not opened it, or at least make sure they have the serial key numbers that came with their set and offer a refund if it doesn't work. This way their version should work for the next person to aquire the software set. And there is no reason it shouldn't. Adobe has no way of tracking who has it once it leaves their wearhouse paid for and with the serial numbers/ key number enclosed. They are not gps satellite or ein tracked programs, nor can they be, and most importantly- Adobe cannot read your intentions to sell your work if you created it with student discount purchased software, versus full price retail version software.     You are a member of a team that is competing for the opportunity to program NBC-TV from 8-9 pm on Thursday evenings for the 2006-2007 season.

    Your task is to come up with your own ORIGINAL program(s) for the time block based upon your research of the audience and the competition. You can assume that the competition (ABC, CBS, Fox, etc.) will program what is currently on.

    As the attached sheet shows, you must cover more than just the program concept. The financial aspect is important as well.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

    I. PROGRAM CONCEPT

    What is the idea? What is it like? Why is it different? Why will it work? You have an hour to fill. This could obviously be done by two half hour shows or a single one hour show. Which will you do? Why? Be as specific as possible when it comes to your program(s). What about casting? Include at least three show titles and brief story lines for your program(s). Have one of them be your sweeps show.

    II. RESEARCH RATIONALE

    What are the demographics available in the hour? Do they change? What part of the audience is "taken" or available? How will your program slant in terms of demos? Why will it work? Will it bring back audience to the time period?

    III. PUBLIC RELATIONS

    How will you get the attention of the consumer press TV editors? Will your people do selective touring on local TV shows? Any plans for satellite interviews? Are there any expected problems in the format with pressure groups? Are your stars promotable? Amenable?

    IV. STATION CLEARANCE

    Networks are dependent on local stations to carry their shows to viewers. What arguments will you suggest to have the affiliate carry this show rather than syndicated or local products? Why will your show be better? What will you say to the station manager?

    V. SALES

    Why will this program be of interest to advertisers? Will its demographics be good? How have similar shows done in the past? Will there be problem story lines?

    VI. LICENSE FEES, DEFICIT FINANCING, OTHER MARKETS

    Here are some estimated license fees for TV shows. Of course they may vary widely depending on productions costs.

    The network's license fee generally covers about 80% of production costs. The producer then looks for back-end financing or expectations on other revenues. Entertainment specials usually run only once since they usually don't work well in reruns.

    How will you try to keep down production costs? The problems of television production costs have been heavy copy in the trade press, business magazines, and consumer press. The production team must be sensitive to these issues and have answers. At the same time they must also assure the network that they will deliver a classy product, explaining why it "will all be on the screen" for the license fee.

    VIII. AUDIENCE PROMOTION

    What kind of TV Guide ads, newspaper, or magazine ads do you intend to run? How will you use major sporting events that take place on the network? What about network promos? Will you use radio? Why? What will you say? What will you do during sweeps?
