Affiliate Marketing Success

Affiliate marketing has become one of the most explosive new ways to earn a living online in years. Many have quit their regular jobs to earn full time incomes by marketing products or services on the internet. If you're thinking about it yourself, there are a few tips that may help you keep on the right track. Here they are:

(1). Set some good clear goals. Many people think this part is too corny. But the smart successful people know that it's totally not. If you set a goal, you'll have a point of focus that can help drive your bus, if you get my drift. Even if it's just to earn an extra 0 a month, then set it, and go for it. It gives you something to aim at, that is going to help you in becoming successful in one way or another.

(2). Another thing is to stay focused on just one thing. Too many people fail because they take on way too many tasks at once. In the end, if they'd stay focused on one way of doing things until they got it right, they'd still be in the game and way ahead of where they are now. And when you find something that works for you, then work it. Find variations of it, that work as well. If something doesn't work, dump it and try something else. In the end, build yourself a successful working model.

(3). Take the time to step back every now and then and review what you've done, and analyze how you got here. This will help you to see if there was any way you could have done it better or gotten here faster. Be honest in your self-evaluations, and be realistic too. There's nothing wrong with scrapping something you believed in at the beginning. It simply shows that you've grown in knowledge and are ready to move on to something that will work.

(4). Along with your goal, set a time frame on it as well. 0 in one month is good because it will cause you to push for better results within that time frame. Once you achieve this, you can move on to more money, with less time. You just have to have a place to start, and a time to push for. Once a month have a look back at what you've done. Have that honest open talk with yourself we discussed above and write down your progresses and failures. Failures are something we MUST do once, then grow from them. They are nothing more than 'growing' seeds. Without them, you wouldn't learn. So plow your ground and plant your seeds. You can do affiliate marketing with the right attitude, patience and determination.

Affiliate marketing is by far one of the most awarding online ventures you could seek. If done correctly you could make a lot of money online while working from the comfort of your own home. That's just the way it is.

      I am right there with you on the so-called gurus who make millions of dollars and live in mansions and have their own jets misconception. I have come across several of them that brag about what they have and what they make but then their products absolute suck and don't tell you anything!

      Here's my story and I am an average everyday guy who was able to quit my 9-5 job (or should I say 3-11 job) to become an Internet marketer. I went to a technical school and learned computer repair and was able to get a job at a help center for a computer software company. I worked from 3-11 and I never saw my wife who worked from 9-5.

      The job paid ok (enough to pay the bills) but the hours were killing me and dealing with some of the callers we got, soon wore on my nerves. One of the guys I worked with told me about affiliate marketing and he was getting into it part-time to make some extra money on the side. I was interested and started to look into and decided that it was something that I could part-time as well.

      It started out slow at first with a few hundred dollars here and there. But then my wife got pregnant and I knew that I had to make more money in order to support all three of us. I put in every second of every day making my sites and promoting them. I did article writing, SEO optimization techniques, and researched every Internet marketing strategy guru I could find.

      I think for someone to succeed in affiliate marketing you have to invest some money and also you have to be innovative.

      I have been selling web hosting space for sometime but it used to be very hard to make a single sale until when i Joined Affiliate University and everything became very easy.

    Has anyone really had any affiliate marketing success?
    I am so frustrated with affiliate marketing. I have been trying to make it as an affiliate marketer for almost a year now. I do it part-time and probably spend about 25-35 hours a week on it. It fills up my weekends and nights and yet I am still not seeing any real income.

    There was three months that I saw some good income and then it resided and I am back to making only a few hundred dollars a month. I just learned that I am at risk of losing my job next year if the numbers for the 4th quarter don't improve at my job. So, should I just give up on marketing and hope that I can get another job somewhere else if I get laid off or can I really have affiliate marketing success?

      Affiliate marketing success does not happen overnight. You said that you have been doing it for almost a year, but have you ever done split testing or anything like that to see what is working and what is not? Are you following a certain method or you just winging it yourself?

      I learned early on in my Internet marketing endeavor that what works for one person may not work for you. There are plenty of big name marketers that want to sell you the latest program or software to help you succeed and then when you buy it, it does nothing or it is so full of fluff that you don't learn anything new.

      I have not bought a program except for Matt Bacak's Internet Marketing Dirt newsletter for the past year and I am making more money than ever. I have been doing affiliate marketing for about two and a half years part-time. I don't really have any intentions of quitting my job, but like you, I like knowing that if I got laid off, I could fall back on affiliate marketing for income.

      So, you want to know if you should quit affiliate marketing. I say no especially if your job is in jeopardy. Instead of working harder, work smarter. Are you doing all you can to drive free traffic to your sites? Do your websites or landing pages make people want to buy the products? Have you done split testing on landing pages or keywords to see which ones are the most profitable for you?

      Some people have this myth about affiliate marketing that you can simply throw up a website, add some affiliate links, and start making money. You have to work at this and you constantly have to analyze your strategy until it starts making you regular money and then you can relax as the money comes in.

      Yes, affiliate marketing success is possible. I am living proof. Even though I only do it part-time, I make more money from it than what the average full-time salary is where I live.       Yes, we're doing quite well with affiliate programs, earning us thousands per month (in addition to our online advertising revenues)

      There are several factors to achieving success with affiliate programs:

      1. Choose affiliate programs that your visitors would be interested in. The program should fit with the overall theme of your site and something your users would want. You can't achieve much success with an affiliate program for hotels if your website is about dogs.

      2. Promote your affiliate programs. Using emails to banners to text links are ok. But the best way is through content -- write something about how effective the products/services are. Tell your audiences that these are the best tools for them and why.

      3. Location, location, location. Don't just put your affiliate program links on one spot of your website, such as the homepage. Visitors don't always come through your homepage - and these people will not likely see the affiliates you are promoting. If you can, put them on almost every page of your website. The more visible the affiliate program is, the more chances you can get a sale

      What concerns is that you offer web hosting and site building yet you have ads on your site for godaddy and other companies...When contracting with the ad company ask that you have the right to block competing businesses ads from appearing.

      If I look at your prices then at the two banner ads above from 2 different competing companies I see that they are cheaper.

      she said she wasn't having any luck with the adsense route. But to be honest, if you're not having luck with adsense chances are you are going to have trouble with affiliate marketing because like someone said you need to have a website that is receive lots of targeted traffic for a specific niche to be successful with affiliate marketing.

      One thing you can do with affiliate marketing is write reviews about the products that you're trying to sell for commission and posting those reviews on your blog and in ezines and article submission sites with a link back to your affiliate page so people will read about the product and come buy them from you. I've had success with that method.

    Im going to buy an email list from a list broker. There also going to send out the email I created to the whole list. Every email in the list is valid, & the people have bought products before.       Well I have been successful, but not from a list I bought. You have to build the list yourself and build a relationship with your list. I have been Internet Marketing for about 3 years now, so I send e-mails out helping people to get around a lot of the obstacles that I went through, stuff I had learned from my failures. It also helps to have a website they can refer to, so you can establish a more physical identity in your relationship. My website is full of info that trains people on how to get traffic and make sales, so when they see my e-mails they know before they open and read, that they are getting ready to get some needed info.

      Everyone that signs up with my lists are double opt in, and I offer good free information before I try selling anything. I actually never really offer anything without giving out some free info, lesson plan, training guide or book first.( in every single e-mail I send out) I use aweber for my campaign, And my best campaigns have about 10 e-mails that are sent in over the first 2 weeks on auto pilot with genuine info that my clients wont find anywhere else for free.

      The goal is to get your list to know your name when they open their e-mail, you want them to anticipate your next e-mail. And don't really shove anything down there throats, subtly put in affiliate links, affiliate links should be more of a bonus to the info you give them.

      I have not made any conversions from lists that I bought in the past, you have to understand that you have no idea how the list was acquired. So these people may not even be interested in what you have to offer, or even check there e-mails at that. I'm not saying you wont make any sales, but I can bet your conversion rate will be extremely low. My latest campaign, I would say I had a big jump from about 3% to around 12% after about 3 weeks, ever since then it has been pretty steady around 12% - 17%, it is hard to calculate because my list grows a little everyday. I also don't have a way of tracking if the conversions are coming from new subscribers or old subscribers yet, but this is my most successful e-mail campaign so far, and it is the first time i put this much effort into it as well.

      With a list that you build, you know exactly where they came from and why they opt in. And with a Double opt-in list after the user voluntarily inputs their e-mail info, they still have to open their e-mail and confirm again that they want to receive my information. So, therefore I know they check there e-mails, they want mine, and the e-mail goes somewhere they can see it.

      When you become an affiliate for a company (i.e. Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc.), you get paid when someone clicks from your website to the company's website and actually purchases something.

      Successful affiliates create valuable content that actually answers the question(s) people are asking about a certain product or service. For example, if you search Google for "buy shoes online", you'll find 10,900,000 pages that offer info. If you click on one of the sites offering Zappos shoes, then actually purchase a pair of Zappos, the Zappos affiliate that owns the site you clicked on will earn a small commission from Zappos. This action does not increase the price of your shoes.

      I have been doing affiliate marketing for three years now. I work a full-time job and have a family so I can't invest the time into affiliate marketing that I'd like to but I am consistently making an extra 0 monthly and I'm seeing more and more traffic to my websites. I know if I could do it full-time, I'd be making a lot more money. I really enjoy it...it's a lot of fun.

      And, yes, you can make good money. It just depends on how much you put into it and how badly you want it. I, too, became extremely frustrated and was ready to quit but then I'd make a sale so I know I can do it but it's a lot of work.

      I actually pay a monthly fee (, if you pay for a full year) to be a member at Wealthy Affiliate. They teach you everything, and I mean everything, you need to know to become a successful affiliate marketer.       I know a company that you can get involved in that has a charitable program. It's becoming a major resource for non profit organizations in funding their programs. Places like Systic Fybrosis, MADD, Softin etc.

    Why is success so hard to achieve?
    I've tried it all. I've tried selling on Ebay and Amazon. Tried opening my own online shop, I've tried affiliate marketing and blogging.

      From what you have listed, there are hundreds or thousands of competitors doing the same thing. They are all trying to get rich selling the same stuff fromthe same places.

      In order to truly suceed, you need to develop a business around an idea or service where there is not much competition. You must also keep an eye out for the future as once you start doing well, others will try to copy you.

      Success is not easy and it has different meaning to different people.

      My business has changed over the 18 years I have operated it. We have moved into different areas, then when it got too competitive or the internet killed our sales we looked at something that complemented what we were already doing.

      It is alot of hard work. You just have to be willing to work hard and be creative.

      The affliate marketing. blogging, etc only makes money for the people on top. Be prepared for lots of "answers" that have links to show you how to make easy money. As you already know, most are scams.

      Affiliate Marketing can be really tricky. There's alot to it other than how much commission is offered, as there's also the level of support provided and the resources you are given by the companies.

      I use 3rd party programs such as CJ.com .. However, my best program is in selling electronic items and automation gadgets. For this I go through x10affiliate.com

    Has anyone found any success in Paid Sign-up Marketing & Advertising (online)?
    I mean when you pay advertising money to a site, such as, gold-clickers, where you pay and in return, supposedly, members of that site sign up for your website or affiliate program. You are supposed to get sign-ups and site members get "paid to sign-up"

    I asked a somewhat similar version of this question earlier using the word 'luck'. Unfortunately, that word alone was enough to give me answers from far "left field", in which they had nothing to do at all with paid sign-up advertising.

    It sounds like it should work like clock work, but I want to know if anyone has actually gotten sign-ups this way at all.

    I thought that it would be worthwhile to ask this similar question that is posed in a way to make it sound appropriately clarified. There were two answers to my other version of the question, albeit I voted 'No best answer'. None of the people who answered were even talking about experience with paid sign-ups working or not working for them.

      Online classifieds are a very competitive niche. I'd recommend that you use traditional advertising to generate traffic locally, then grow from there nationally using print classifieds.

      For a relatively small fee you can advertise nationally using classifieds. Because you are going to have a broad range of products or topics to promote, your central message will likely have to be "onine classifieds" or "free classifieds", instead of a specific product.

      Then from there build your site awareness. You've got your work cut out for you. However if you have the resources hire an outside firm to handle your marketing. However, your in a profitable business model if you can grow your site's popularity.

      Have you tried eBay or Overstock.com? I do OK there with my little business, and I only sell one type of thing! Not enough for me to make a living, but then all of my stuff is hand made and I don't think I could keep up with a higher demand. So I only clear about 0 in profit a month. I have a basic store and that runs about a month (not including sales fees). A lot of vendors use eBay & Overstock as a way to get people to visit their on-line store where they offer a wider variety of items.

      There are only two ways to become wealthy:

      1). Theft (i.e. mugging people or becoming a politician and living on taxpayer money) or
      2). Saving (only spending on those things which you really truly need) and producing (working hard and thinking of smart entrepreneurial ways to satisfy consumer demands that are currently going unsatisfied)

      Also, to make sure your savings dont depreciate over time, you should store your savings in gold and silver, which will serve as an excellent hedge against the coming price inflation.

    How to give little brother career advice?
    My brother is 27 and has been trying to start his own affiliate marketing business for 2 years now. He's been taking at home courses and learning on his own part-time 2 days a week and he works part-time at an ad agency the other 3 days. He really has a drive to want to work for himself, which I certainly admire and appreciate. The thing is that his approach has resulted in very slow results, and him having to be 27 and living at home with our parents.

    I feel like I need to give him advice, but I want to do it and still be sensitive to his ego and support his dreams. He is very very opposed to having a full-time job and trying to make this work. He told me he doesn't want to be a corporate drone - which I honestly feel is an immature attitude that shows his lack of experience and maybe that he's a little intimidated by the corporate world.

    I've had the desire to take the freelance route, but took the approach to establish myself in the industry before-hand and to surround myself around and learn from people who have similar goals to me and have had much success from it. I want to try to make him see the light, about this, but every time I bring it up, he gets really defensive and makes it seem like I'm attacking him and criticizing him, which I'm honestly not trying to do, I'm just trying to help him see the light to a more thriftier success path. Anyone out there have any experience with giving defensive relatives advice? I feel like him being so stagnant with his life is causing us to become distant. Thank you very much in advance.

      Do not come to him in a condescending way..come to him more as a friend. Explain to him how you had to give up your dreams of going the "freelance route" and had to establish yourself in the industry before-hand and that probably would be good for him too. Explain to him that you love him very much but that you feel he may be taking things too slowly and not seeing things for exactly what they are and that you have some good advice for him if he would like you to share it with him.       1. Puzzled what 'wealthy affiliate' was, and a bit suspicious it was 'get rich quick' junk. I think it needed some quality fact up front to convince me of its integrity and convince me to spend more time their.
      2. I thought you needed to 'entertain' more - ie give me a source of pleasure such as an entertaining cartoon or quote, or question and answer interactive assessment, to draw me in.

    Over the past few months, I've invented and created a prototype for a game (think board game or card game) that revolves around a popular worldwide sport. What I'd like to do is pitch and sell the rights to the game to a major professional affiliate of the sport, like the NFL for football, or MLB for baseball, etc. My idea is that it would create a win-win for both the sport entity and myself:

    For the professional affiliate: The game, if proven popular, generate revenue in its sales, expand the interest and marketability of the sport itself, and help people gain an increased knowledge and understanding of the sport's many intricacies.

    For me: I'd be able to utilize the professional affiliate's already massive globally recognized brand, marketing, and wealth to market and produce/distribute the game. I would hypothetically gain income from the initial sale of the rights, and some royalties depending on sales success thereafter (this is all obviously a hopeful hypothetical).

    My questions are as follows:

    1) How would I go about getting the attention of the sports affiliate so that I could see if they'd be interested in a pitch/demonstration of the game?

    Viacom said the increases would cost an extra 23 cents a month per subscriber. It said that Americans spend a fifth of their TV time watching Viacom shows but its fees make up less than 2.5 percent of the Time Warner cable bill.

    "We make this request because Time Warner Cable has so greatly undervalued our channels for so long," Viacom said.

    "Ultimately, however, if Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV and the rest of our programming is discontinued — over less than a penny per day — we believe viewers will see this behavior by their cable company as outrageous," Viacom said.

    Time Warner Cable's Dudley said Viacom rejected his company's proposal to extend the contract while the sides continue to negotiate.

    Instead, Viacom appealed directly to Time Warner Cable's customers, with TV ads in major markets. In Wednesday's New York Times, the company ran a full-page, color advertisement with Nickelodeon's animated bilingual heroine "Dora the Explorer" crying and clinging to her monkey pal, Boots.

    "Why is Dora crying?" the ad asks. "Time Warner Cable is taking Dora off the air tonight!" The ad urges viewers to call Time Warner Cable and demand that their favorite shows remain on the air.

    If the shows go dark after midnight, Time Warner Cable will send people to the Internet to catch episodes. Dudley said the cable operator also will make available a video teaching people how to hook their computers up to the TV to watch online shows — a tactic it used during a contract dispute with broadcaster LIN TV in October.

    Part of the disagreement is that most of Viacom's popular shows are rerun on Web sites where Viacom collects advertising revenue that it does not share with Time Warner, Dudley said. "We don't think that's fair," he said.

    Viacom has staked much of its revenue-growth prospects on its ability to extract higher carriage rates out of its cable and satellite affiliates despite an ad slowdown and weak ratings.

    In the third quarter, media network revenue, which accounts for about two-thirds of Viacom's total, grew 6 percent to .1 billion, despite global ad revenue falling 2 percent, largely because of double-digit percentage growth in affiliate fees and the success of its "Rock Band" video game.

    "The issue is that they have asked for an exorbitant increase in their carriage fees and their network ratings are sagging," Dudley said. "Basically we're trying to hold the line for our customer."

    I agree with you that you just saw the weirdest question you might have ever seen so far. But........

    (Steve Chandler, in his self – help book “Reinventing yourself” says about an incident in which he scolded a woman very harshly. Later, when he became calm, he understood that if it was a man who did the same thing as done by that woman (which irritated Steve), he would have simply joked with him about the situation, instead of being so angry. So he arranged a group meeting in which there were many women and he seeked their help to resolve this double standards adopted by him and that meeting helped him to tackle this issue.)

    Now, I am doing the same thing here. I have a very serious problem (ummm not really) with girls (women). Let me repeat, I hate them so much, but, at the same time I love them so much too. Let me explain, in my life, always, I can get along with most of the boys/men very easily. Normally, I don’t quarrel with any guy. But, with girls, I don’t do anything else. ;-)

For generations, our parents have been taught to go straight to college after high school, in hopes of landing the perfect job. Attending college is the smart choice; however parents should show their children that there is more to life than having the perfect job, and my parents did an immaculate job showing me. They have constantly lectured me on the importance of becoming a successful entrepreneur, and one day establishing my own businesses. The number one lesson they taught me is that I could never become wealthy as an employee. I truly appreciated the fact that I was given a different outlook on the real world because I have taken their guidance and used it to my advantage. Just by knowing this information, I have been able to start a business in e-commerce, invest in the stock market, and even receive my real estate license. Of all the industries that I have been introduced too, I believe that real estate has interested me the most.
    When I was about sixteen years old, my parents introduced me to the business of real estate sales. They would always take me to local real estate seminars and investment clubs hosted by some of the most renowned real estate entrepreneurs in the country, such as Donald Trump and Hilary "Zig" Ziglar. At that time, it was hard for me to appreciate the opportunity to even be allowed in theses events, but as I got older I understood why my parents took me with them.       Your general subject is fine, but the way you write not so much.
      The way you have laid out your essay is very messy. You need to gather your thoughts before putting pen to paper. For instance, starting with your first sentence- it begins general and third person. Then, suddenly, you change to first.You need a transition sentence here. "That has been the so called “American Dream” for far too long, and parents are implementing that same mentality in their children’s lives."- this makes it seem like you don't agree with the concept of the American Dream because you say its been called that for "far too long". If you dont agree with it, ok, but add something after this sentence to sort of explain your thoughts or just delete the for far too long part. "Of all the industries that I have been introduced too, I believe that real estate has interested me the most."- use to instead of too in this sentence. Other things like this I have found throughout your passage, and a little re reading and correcting won't hurt.
      You ask what you could put in your second paragraph- the paragraph you originally have is way too long to be just one.( see what i mean about how your layout is messy?) Before you write,plan out your five paragraphs or more in which you first think of your introduction and thesis statement, then your first topic (maybe what your parents did when you were young) your second topic (maybe how you began to be successful) your third topic (maybe how you credit your success to your parent's and how you appreciate it) and then last but not least your conclusion. You can add more paragraphs to your body, but before you start writing, think. Good luck! :D
