    Is there a way to know how many sales I make in affiliate marketing business?
    Hi. I am an affiliate of several companies that sell products and services. My question is how do I know if I made any sales? These organizations claim that they attach cookies to visitors that come from my site and if they buy their product/service I get paid. What if i make 10 sales but they only tell me that I made 1? Is there a way to check them? I don't want to get ripped off for my efforts. Is there some kind of tracking device?

      If you're dealing with reputable companies, don't worry. They're more than willing to pay you a few bucks to keep the program attractive to you and others just like you.

      Some companies use promotional codes to identify which affiliate send the business their way. The problem with these programs is that your friends might forget to insert the promo code. If the program also gives your friend a discount, then she is highly motivated to insert the code. Try to select these.

      It isn't in anybody's interest to cheat you or other affiliates. Publicly traded companies must prove that they have adequate controls of all their financial dealings, and this would just be one of the items that would have to pass that test. If you're working with a small, privately-held company, it's possible that the controls aren't there. But, these companies need you far more that the big boys do, and they know that making sure you earn good dollars is the best way to keep the sales rolling in.

      Start a blog on blogspot that would be the easiest if you want to start the free way. Use Squidoo to promote your blog as they only allow a few links in a lens. Godaddy is where you buy domain names, their hosting is not that great for a blog.

18. QUESTION:
    How do you generate affiliate sales in a "timely" fashion?
    Here is another question I have for those of you familiar with the affiliate marketing business (where you promote other peoples' stuff on your website or blog). I've been in the affiliate marketing business for a while (I primarily use Linkshare, Commission Junction, Amazon, Ebay, Clickbooth and Clickbank as well as a few tiered affiliate programs, such as Global Domains International). However, I've noticed that some advertisers (especially at Commission Junction) expect you to generate sales for them in a "timely" fashion (say within 6 months or less) and some may terminate you from their program if you do not generate sales for them soon enough. I currently have 2 websites, but they do have a low page rank at the moment (they are relatively new after all) and so I don't get a whole lot of traffic to them. Anyways, is it possible to generate affiliate sales within a short time frame (say 6 months or less)? If so, what is the best approach to accelerating the process?

      If you want to generate sales within a short period of time then you've gotta drive lots of traffic to your website in a much shorter period of time. Unless you are extremely lucky, you won't really get any sales. There is a study that says that only 2% of people who visit your site are most likely to convert into payers.

      So there is really no way of accelerating the process unless you're willing to commit to building traffic to your websites first (which in the end, would really be worth it because it's going to give you more options on how to monetize through your site...).

    How do I get affiliate sales?
    Hello I just started a affiliate program for my website on clickbank. In a week I have about 30 affiliates but I still have no sells. Its an ebook on how to make money. I need help making sales I thought that my affiliates would be able to generate sales but it doesn't look like they are doing a good job, I have offered the highest commission and an incentive's, along with banners and even excerpts from the book. I know the product is a good product because many people can use it. Are there any companies out there that will reach sales goals for me, without me coming out my pocket immediately.       Hi Fierra,

      I just did a search on clickbank for fierra23 and your offer was there but there wasn't a pitch page. Your home page is offline as well. Are they both the same? Your banners are really bright with text thrown onto them.

      So take this lightly, ok. I don't see a website, so there is nothing to buy. If and when there is a website that appears, you are going to want really good adcopy (I mean you should want to buy your own product after reading your own product page. You should test and prove your conversion rate because good affiliate don't want to market low converting products. There isn't a product price or $/sale to attract the better marketers. Your banners should include 125 x 125 pixel ads (lots of wordpress uses them these days). Also, try using higher quality banners that look good and sell your product and not yourwebsite.com.

      If I were you, I would go to an affiliate forum and get advice from members in the forums as well. They will usually give you pretty good advice.

    i am an affiliate for various products sold on clickbank, and i am just wondering what compels these people to actually pay me? correct me if im wrong, but clickbank pays the affiliate (me) a commision for any sales made from the product ONLY IF they access and buy the product from a link saying that you are the one that brought them here to buy the product (hoplink). well my question is if there is any way to enforce these people to pay me my commisions!? i mean what is stopping them from taking 100% of the sale and saying thanks for the traffic????

      Yes, that will work. It just shortens the URL, it doesn't change it in any way.

      Remember that Clickbank will not pay you any money no matter how much you earn. That is the heart of their scam.

    Is it worthwhile to allow my helpful Youtube videos to be uploaded to stranger's websites? I am an affiliate marketer who has created helpful videos that offer review and education. But I do hope that I get the affiliate sale from the potential customer.
    I see that these strangers' websites have inserted a link at the end of my description (essay) to their own advertisers.. I also see that they use my essay (description) and link words to their own advertisers.

      Only if you can ensure that they aren't using it to promote other offers or their own affiliate links. If you have URLs mentioned in the video maybe you can take that chance. Though, you can't count on unaffiliated third parties to post your affiliate link in your video description -- they simply won't do that.

      As I'm sure you've realized, sales depend on traffic.

      If 1% of the people who get to the sales page actually buy the product, you need to get 100 people to the sales page for every sale.

      And if you can get 10% of the people who see your ad, blog or affiliate link to click through, you'll need to expose your link to 1000 people for every sale.

      I would concentrate on getting traffic to my blog, and 'pre-sell' the product - do a review, for example. Then advertise your blog URL in as many places as you can (without spamming, of course!)

      Here are some suggestions:

      - Write articles and submit them to the top 10 or so article directories

      - Comment on other people's blogs. Make your comments relevant.

      - Write a press release and send it to free press release distributors

      - Create a Squidoo lens and a HubPages hub and have them send traffic to your blog

      If my memory serves me correctly, I think there is a jet chartering company at Commission Junction (www.cj.com). As far as buying jets, you would probably have to set up an arrangement with a Jet dealer. Perhaps they would pay you if a referral resulted in a purchase.

      It really depends if you are employees of the brick and mortar business. If you aren't, you could set up a limited liability company (LLC) and have the brick and mortar business pay your company (the LLC) for the referrals. You and your partner would then file the appropriate tax forms for your partnership.

      This last 8 months have seen merchants drop their per click payments due to the economic climate. Businesses have had to make cut backs on their outgoings so ad clicks was one of the first things for an online business to cut back on.

      The revenues are slowly starting to pick up again but the PPC rates are still fairly low comapred to what they where a year ago.

      If you understand that working with a drop shipper means that you sell the product and they stock it and ship it for you and affiliate marketing where you market another vendors product for a commission when a sale is made then you need to ask yourself what you would be more comfortable doing and what you think you could make money doing.

      Both types of business you will have to do the same thing as far as marketing the site to get the traffic you need to make a conversion. Just because you publish a website for either type business doesn't mean you are visible to the search engines and the public at large, that takes work to get that ball rolling. I would suggest that you go to an article directory an put in an inquiry about the things you need to do and I will also give you some info on some of the things that need to happen to get started.

      If you plan to incorporate then you need to register with the federal,state and city government. If you plan to run the business as a sole proprietor then all you need is a business license from your local city government. Some cities do not require you to get a business license until the business makes ,000 to ,000 so see what your local government requires for an e-commerce business.

      Steps for getting started:
      First and foremost write up a business plan.
      1. Forming the business either through incorporating or as a sole proprietor. If you plan to incorporate then you need to get with your states Secretary of State to do this.
      2. Find your SIC and NAICS code you will need either one or both for your business formation with the government entities.
      3. Getting an EIN if required
      4. Setting up a Franchise and Excise Tax and Sales and Use Tax account with the Dept of Revenue in the state you are in. You need to determine if you need one or both of these accounts. You can either build your own website or have one built for you, some start out with a blog because it's free and you can make it look like a standard website so take a look at this option and see if it will work for you. Just keep in mind if you use a blog you need relevant content in the body of the blog if it's just full of product links then you will eventually get shut down. As far as building your own you can either buy software or use the online website builders. Using the software allows you to create your site how you want it just make sure the hosting provider you use will support the software, with the online website builders you will be limited to their templates and I believe you have to use their hosting but you can buy your domain name from anywhere and just direct to their server.
      Research SEO for your website, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and you can read about this at any article directory. Once in the directory put in a search for what you are wanting to read about and you should get some articles to read up on. If your search comes up empty or not what you are looking for just reword the search until you do. The info is there you just need to use the right phrasing. If you are on a tight budget you may also look into free ways to market your site.
      8. Get inventory.
      9. Figure out how you plan to ship product. This all comes down to how you plan to handle inventory. Some people have their own and some get involved with companies that have the product and you sell it and they drop ship the product for you. This saves on you having to carry the product yourself and having unsold inventory in your possession. If you plan to do affiliate marketing then you need to sign up to the affiliate programs and get your code specific links to post on your site.
      10. Marketing your website. Just because you publish a website doesn't mean it's visible to the search engines and the public at large so you need to submit the site to the 3 top search engines at the least and start marketing the site.
