     No. Legitimate companies all have their contact information on their website. These people don't.

     As someone who knows real estate investors, I can tell you they have no problem finding a supply of vacant properties (especially in this market). All they have to do is find call the bank to get a list of bank owned properties or look in the paper for foreclosure notices.

     I love Craigslist, but almost every ad for part-time independent work is a scam.

     After a month of doing this, he bought a hand crank siphon.
     after 3 months he sold larger water containers to those that
     wanted one. One year in he bought an electric pump, now
     he charges the price of 2 small bread rolls.

    I have a master's degree and make about 45,000 a year. My husband works however, his paycheck is hardly nothing about 0 per month. We have one child and one due in December.       It sounds like to me instead of looking for extra income, you should be cutting things out of your budget. You need to take a serious look at your budget. Ask yourself if there is anything you can cut back on, or things you are spending you money on that is not needed.

      I know this may be difficult, and a lot of people don't want to "downgrade" their life style but it may be needed. Do you have a 0 a month car payment? If so sell your newer car and buy a reliable used car. What about rent? Can you move to a cheaper place? Do you have an expensive cable or cell phone plan? If so you can probably cancel both and save at least 0 a month.

      Combined you two make nearly ,000 a month. There is no reason why you should be "scraping by". My girlfriend goes to school full time and I am the only income. We live comfortable off of less then ,000 a year and there is always plenty of room in the budget.

      You really need to list all of your expenses per month and find out where you can cut back.

      WHat are your hobbies? What things do you enjoy doing? Think about how you can create a job from this interest. For example, if you're good with computers or cars you can get into part-time jobs this way. Check your local Classifieds in the newspaper. Look into Census jobs....I've seen advertisments for this and I'm only a half hour from Chattanooga. How about delivering pizzas?
      Maybe you could become a seller on Ebay...offer folks a flat fee for anything you sell for them.

I am very knowledgeable on this topic because I spent 6 years researching and investigating over 50 work at home options. I have published articles, guides and reviews on this topic. However, no matter what, lesson number one is always do your due diligence. Thoroughly research any company you are considering and ask questions!

      People are looking for work from home and the biggest problem is they don’t understand that there really are no work at home JOBS other then remote call center work. This is a viable option but there are some significant down sides to this. You are required to pay a fee, usually about , for a credit and background check, and if you don't meet their criteria you will be out that bucks. Also you have to have a 100% quiet work environment and the pay is pretty low. Most people are not able to make more than 0 a week at best. With all these negatives there are a couple legit call center jobs you can do from home and I will cite them in my profile to the left. However, most people aren't looking for call center work.

      The best way to earn an income from home would be to open your own legitimate home business. Small home businesses have increased in the last 5 years by about 200%. The best home businesses to start are those with a proven plan in place like Avon or Mary Kay however if you are like me, you are not interested in pushing products so let's skip that.

      Legitimate small home businesses should have a small cost involved but be careful, all the scams will be charging too so KNOW the business. Talk to a REAL person and ask questions. Less than 0 - 0 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting 0 - 00 or more. If you are coming across places that say free then I would RUN don’t walk the other way! They never are in the end. (For those who want a home business for free, rethink that idea. I've never seen any business, home or not, that was free to own. If every business was free, everyone would have one.)

      Alright so here are some things to look for in a home business. Ask the following questions and MAKE SURE you have a real person to talk to. If you can't get a real person on the phone, walk away.

      1. Are you rated with the BBB? (They should have C or better. Just because they have complaints or not a perfect A rating, doesn't mean they aren't a good company. ALL companies get complaints, it's the manner in which they resolve them that determines their character.)
      2. Are you a member of the US Chamber of Commerce?
      3. Are you in good standing with Dunn and Bradstreet? (The credit agency for businesses)
      4. Are your start up costs less than 0?
      5. Who would be training me? (If it's a "call center" type of call an "800 number" for help, that's no good. You want to be trained by another business owner within the company. How can someone in a call center train you on something they themselves are not doing?)
      6. How do you pay your business owners? (paper checks from a Federally Insured bank and/or direct deposit through a Federally Insured bank should be the answer. No "paypal", money orders, cash or anything like that.
      7. What National Publications can I find you in? (If they have a good rep, you should be able to read up on it somewhere)
      8. Do you have any Fortune 500 partners or endorsements? (If Fortune 500 companies partner with them, you can bet they are legit because Fortune 500 Companies have lawyers that make millions a year making sure they only do business with reputable companies.)
      9. How long have you been in business? (Definitely should be over 5 years, over 10 is even better)
      10. Do YOU own a home business with this company as well?(If the answer is no, ask for the name and number of someone you can talk to who works with the company so you can get a good feel of things. If they refuse to provide it, walk away.)

      No matter what you decide, AVOID these top 5 work at home scams.

      I have tried many.......many.....at home business opportunities over the years.

      Stuffing envelopes, data entry, surveys, network marketing, gifting........I am embarrassed by all the different ones I have tried. And I must tell you, they were all SCAMS !!!

      But recently, I came across the best opportunity I have ever seen. I don't say that lightly. I came across it while looking at stock recommendations at my favorite site.

      I now do something I absolutely enjoy from my home. Work is not work anymore.

      [1] Build your own web site for Q/A and hope to attract people to come and earn online ads revenue. Lots of work though.

      [2] Try to use a blog site to write and post articles that will attract people to come. You could also earn some money by using online ads, such as Google AdSense. However, attract web traffic is a challenge.

      [3] Use other web sites that offer online ads revenue sharing program. One of the sites is Wisteme, a collaborative quesion/answer website. It shares half of the online ads revenue with its contributors. It also offers free contributor ads for every Q/A contribution you make.

      There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

      If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as 'Best'.

      Honestly, if there was a way to get rich or even make a living at this, you would personally know someone who does it. Most of the work-at-home offers are scams or pyramid schemes; the ones that offer big money aren't legit, and the ones that are legit don't offer big money.

      Your best choice is to find a reputable company that offers telecommuting options. If you're willing to work hard, you should be willing to work hard in an office at least a couple days a week. Consider large telecommunications companies that need call center or data entry workers, and then inquire about telecommuting options.
