   How to get over jealousy with rich friends?!?
   So I have this really sweet, kind, and pretty friend. I only see her once a year for a sleep away camp. (1 week) It is a horse camp. I have gone for 5 years and finally earned a riding rank, animal rank, and vaulting rank. Last year was the first time I went with her, it was her first week. It is w=very expensive (800+ a week) so my grandma pays for it as a special gift. Anyway she decided she loved the camp and went SEVEN times that summer. This year we are going together and she is "only" going two due to busy schedule. She hasnt earned the riding rank, but has earned the vaulting rank, and a HIGHER animal rank. Ranks work like this. You go and take a test at the end of the week (if you are invited to) and if you pass, you can actually participate the next week...for me the next YEAR. So to get a higher rank you have to take another test the next week and can participate the next. Not a big deal for those who are staying...but for others (me) it is extremely frustrating...Especially considering this is my 6th year and this is her 2nd! I reallly like her so how can I overcome this? She also has it made at home..... Please any advice and personal experience would be great!

     I don't know how old you are, but I do know the sting of watching other well-to-do kids get more camp sessions, more riding sessions, more expensive horses, more showing, more, more, more. It can make you feel kinda sad.

     What you need to realize is that she can be your fellow horsey-friend instead of someone you compete against. Make goals for yourself. Compete against yourself. What can I do better today with my horse than I did yesterday? A better posting trot. A more fluid, stretched Flag. Higher Scissors with better toe-point. Your instructors will notice and you will get better faster by paying attention to your own improvement (rankings). Be her friend and let her do her own thing and applaud each other.

     My suggestion for even faster improvement is checking out a good, local stable. Especially vaulting lessons are typically very affordable. Even /week will give you 32 weeks of instruction for your Grandma's 0. In between lessons you may be invited (because of your rankings) to assist others with tacking the horses or cleaning the stables for some additional pocket money - that you can in turn spend on more lessons! You'll be learning year-round and when you get to go back to camp, guess what? Higher rankings! And it had nothing to do with HER parents money.

     It sounds as if some here don't quite understand the question. There are fools on every level, but some stand out more so. It is true that the divide between the classes is changing and the rich are getting more of the pie. The middle class is shrinking. Some seem to think this is better. They are usually the ones who think trickle down works. The only thing wrong about that theory is you don't see Americans flooding Mexico looking for jobs now do you? Why? Because Mexico is proof trickle down doesn't work. It amazes me that some of lessor means find it necessary to stand up for the wealthy. The rich have the most to loose yet do you see their kids going off to war to protect daddies interest? Do you see them joining the military to protect the freedoms, the rights, the home land? What you do see is them doing is down sizing. Sending jobs off to other countries. Yet if they get into harms way the first thing they do is look for home land protection. If they want to take their interest else where fine, but let them fend for themselves. There are probably many more people working and still classified as poor as those on welfare. Just because they may not pay much or no federal income tax doesn't mean they don't contribute. There are many other forms of taxes paying any of these contributes. To put down hard working people just because they are poor only gives them the incentive to not want to work and to go on welfare. Why should someone sling hamburgers just to be belittled anyway? The real fact is many poor are working more than one job, they work without benefits, without vacations and the like. I don't know of many rich that served in the military or serve on jury duty and I've know a lot of them. I do know of a lot of folks of lessor means that do serve. For the middle class to turn on the poor is counter productive. Would you use that kind of psychology on a child that needs encouragement to better them self? Putting down the already down is counter productive. What you do is led them a hand. Teach them how to pull up their boot strap.
     I was against welfare before most of you were probably born. My wife and I worked hard and a girl who lived in an apartment near us was on it. She came from a well to do family (above middle class). She had a kid and bragged about collecting welfare and food stamps. It would make my wife and I both mad. So I can understand the thinking. It is wrong. However the way we saw it back then was those on welfare should still be made to work some how. There is litter to pick up. Envelops to stuff, food to distribute. Some could be made to help babysit while others worked, etc. The real problem here is that corporate welfare is doing it. They need no understanding no excuses.

    I'm really hated by most people and I dont know how to cope with it. despite what Im writing im not a boastful person and I don't blow my own trumpet and I am humble and don't tell people things about myself like the good points but they seem to find out.       First you need to define what you mean by "rich". For some people earning 100k per year is rich for others, earning 1m per year. But once you have your number in mind that you would like to hit, set about a simple, achievable goals to get there. A good education in business and economics is very useful. It doesn't have be be from a university either. Read and learn about how wealth is generated.

      The best way is to have multiple sources of income. Very few people have made huge fortunes by coming up with huge new products. Far more have by starting small businesses and expanding into niches. Once you have a successful operation that makes reliable income you can start another and another. The idea is not to make a 100k at one business but why not make 50k from one, 40k from another and 20k from another? This could be a carwash or two, a coin laundry, and a carpet cleaning. No one source would make you rich but several sources sure could. But it is critically important that you know and understand how to properly set up, invest and run such businesses.

As long as there are people who listen to interviews, watch movies, or read books by/or about these people the "craziness" of fame and fortune will take place. Not everybody who murders gets away with it. Only a fool would want to murder someone on the chance that he/she would get away with it.

      Whether we want to believe it or not, Casey was found "not guilty," and that's how it will remain unless something else comes up to "prove beyond a doubt" that Casey murdered her daughter.

Those tax deductions weren't for you and me, even though we may have benefited from them, they were for big companies that contributed heavily to Obama.

    Cap and Trade was borderline treason in my book, when the PRESIDENT says "under my plan, electricity bills will skyrocket" and come to find out that his plan was a TRILLION dollar a year money maker for investors and did NOTHING to actually help the enviroment, THAT'S TREASON.

    He's low class, he has never risen above ANYTHING, never missed an opportunity to demonize Republicans, Fox news, the rich, or ANYBODY that disagrees with him.     Iv been thinking of a way to save the economy without losing jobs, which the new government sees as the only option.

    At the moment there are different levels of tax depending on how much you earn, it seems the smarter and more ambitious you are, the heavier you are penalised by tax (A cashier pasy approx 22.5%, where a lawyer on 50,000 pays 50%) this seems to be a rather stupid idea where we punish the desire to improve your life and get off benefits.

    I propose 1 tax level at 25% for everyone regardless, firstly this will encourage our best and brightest to stay in britian, secondly it will stop the rich moving companies to avoid tax and thirdly it would encourage the population to become better educated to get a better job as they are not being punished, there is actually an incentive

    All this together would actually equate to more tax kept here, a smarter country, less benefit dependant and more money per capita to spend in the british economy also strengthing our position. This would also attract foreign money and the best workforce.

    It may take a few years to start to work, but what do you think.

    Forthly, if they're so damn rich, then it shouldn't be a problem for them. Getting it taken to the cleaners or buying another one should be nothing more than a drop in the bucket for them financially.

    I feel really weird posting this here, but honestly, I've gotten to a level where I'll take anyone's input. I apologize for the length of this post, but its kinda a long story.

    When my exgirlfriend and I got together, it had been about six months since she'd left a boy she deeply loved. The guy was just a jackass and mentally abused her constantly, he was one of those rich uppity types and treated her and her family like they were garbage and somehow believed that she would always put up with that. He was very controlling and it damaged her somewhat. Made her very untrusting.

    When we met a few months later, it was pretty much love at first sight. We were inseparable and she treated me like I really mattered, which lemme tell you has never happened to me before in my life. Anyway. A few months later...she just suddenly and abruptly ended it, citing that being in a relationship was too much stress for her and she couldn't be happy with it, despite how wonderful of a boyfriend I was.

    I've been told that usually when a girl tells you how wonderful you are during a breakup, its just a tool to make you feel better and generally means she's not interested. I was depressed for a while. It really ate me up inside because this girl was like a vision come to life. I have never found anyone who's been the physical and mental embodiment of what I would consider perfection. She was everything I'd ever wanted in a girl. And to see it be so easily diminished was.... disheartening. However, I knew that when she left her last boyfriend he stalked and hounded her for months. So after about a week of blind depression I knew the first thing I had to do was accept it. I made very little effort to talk to her, as she made none to talk to me. I wanted her to see, really SEE that I was doing everything I could to give her the space I knew she wanted.

    Its been almost seven months. About a month or two ago we started occasionally talking again. She hasn't given me anything more than casual conversation, I've hardly even physically seen her. So I've no leads to assume she misses me. But the other night we talked a bit when we ran into each other at a movie and mentioned we should do something sometime. I thought she was just being polite to my face and disregarded that it would actually happen. But after about an hour I had a text message that said, "I mean it, we really need to do something sometime." And I was pretty shocked. I even texted her with an offer or two the following day but she seemed to be back to casual-not-really-caring kinda way. So I don't know what to think. I'd like to think she misses me, but that would just be naive indulgence.

    She's not like any other girl I've ever met. And I don't mean that in just a "She's so perfect" kinda way. She's frustratingly unpredictable. I couldn't even begin to guess anything she does, which I guess is why I'm here posting a stupid, gigantic rant. Neither of us have dated anyone else since we separated. I could easily believe she really doesn't care about me, but she was definitely telling the truth when she says she wants to be away from any sort of romantic encounter. And me? Well I just can't find anyone better than her. And she even told me when we were together that she doesn't date often because she has a hard time finding guys that are as great as I am.       I'm not super rich but II make about 200k a year selling properties and doing international trades. Of course, that's only part-time. Full time, I'm a CEO of a small forestry company and I make about 000/yr from that.

      The problem is that there are many vested interests in Guatemala, there is a fairly conservative private sector, which is frightened by any popular movement, for that reason, they take drastic and illegal measures, influential businessmen have been indirectly involved in the killings of union leaders, indigenous leaders, journalists , and, intellectuals who have strongly criticized the terrible social and economic inequality that exists in the country

      There is a political sector is not interested in changing the socioeconomic situation of the large indigenous population of the country. While there are political leaders with great social conscience, if they manage to come to power cannot make major changes in Guatemalan society, because they are in a mined land, full of traps and legal obstacles of a totally corrupt Judiciary, which only favor the rich and the politicians in power.

      I make about 20k a year so I'm far from rich. However..
      1. I own my home, and no I didn't inherit it. I bought a place I could afford, and paid it off quickly by doubling my principle payments. I did this, by not squandering money on crap like flat screen TVs and car stereos. I even went 2 years with no TV hooked up, so I could put that extra a month onto the house note.

      2. I don't have credit cards, ergo I do not pay interest. If I want something that badly, I'll save up the money for it, since I don't charge myself interest.

      3. I eat very well, because I cook at home rather than eating out all the time. I buy healthy food, and I also grow a lot of my own veggies and whatnot. I did that when I lived in an apartment too, on my tiny little patio, in a bunch of 5 gallon pickle buckets, so anyone can do that.

      4. I buy a lot of stuff in bulk, like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Gotta love Sam's club. Again, this goes towards setting money aside so that I can go on a big grocery binge once a month, rather than nickle and diming it every week.

      It's all about managing your money wisely. I think a lot of so called poor people are poor because they're crap with money management. They refuse to go without 100 channels on Dish Network, or those bi monthly nail appointments, or that gas suckin SUV. They charge charge charge like it's free money, and credit cards are the fastest way to ruin your finances... believe me I learned the hard way back in my early 20s.

    The rich are paying bribes and trying to get off the hook for paying taxes. Dividends, writeoffs exist for them but not for the poor who are paid for labor.

      The problem is how we define the rich. Most people consider someone making 100K a year rich and thus don't care for those guys. Since the 100K people feel they are in the same predicament as the ones who make 100M a year, they support them. Most of those 100K a year folks are the ones who are in office locally and regionally and have a huge effect on grassroots organization. While they might be willing to raise taxes on people making 1M or more a year, Democrats aiming at 250K a year or more is really close to home for these people and lends support to the Republican cause.
