Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways of starting an internet business and working from home. With no product development to worry about, no customer problems, and no refunds to worry about, it's no wonder that this is the most effective way of creating an online presence and profiting. You will already have products from online stores, which you can sell for commissions.

So, what is affiliate marketing, exactly? It involves selling products or services through a networking system. Some retailers sell their products through affiliates, to whom they give a commission for each sale. If you have no products or services of your own, you can become an affiliate and sell for others!

However, selling is never easy, and most new affiliates end up quitting after the first few months. There are a number of reasons for this; with the most obvious being that they are disappointed to learn that they cannot become wealthy overnight. Sure, some super affiliates earn a lot of money every day, but they had to come a long way in order to be so successful.

Still, you can catch on quickly if you learn how to get started correctly. There are tons of affiliate programs online, and all you have to do is search for them. Sign up for the ones that interest you, and sell the products through your website or blog. Whatever you do, don't ever spam.

If you want a lot of sales and commissions, you must do the following:

•Choose an affiliate program wisely. Don't choose a product just because it's popular and you think it will sell. While popularity and gravity are important, so are your own interest and knowledge in the product and niche. Promote something because you yourself have an interest in the niche, and you will find marketing to be easier and more effective.

•Look over the commission structure to ensure that the product pays well. Also, if you already have a website, try to find affiliate programs that match your target audience. Do research to make sure that other affiliates are really receiving their payments to ensure that the program can be trusted.

•If you have a lot of competition, you need to establish yourself as *THE* expert consumers can trust. You can achieve this status by providing visitors to your site a lot of content and important information. Add a lot of articles, tips, and product reviews on your website or blog to generate more interest from your target audience.

•Save and collect the emails and names of those who visit your site. You can do this by offering a free ebook or report download. Get some tools to help you collect the information and start a mailing list. Make sure people opt-in first and thus give you permission to send emails. That way, you can send them messages until they unsubscribe. Don't send out too many messages, though, or they will become annoyed. You can either send alerts when something important comes up in regards to the product or niche, or send them a few regular updates a month.

•Use useful and effective marketing techniques. Pay Per Click will give you immediate results, but it can be rather expensive if you don't know what you're doing. You need to do research on keywords and target low cost ones. If you're on a tight budget, then you can try "bum marketing" methods such as article writing and submission, social networking, directories submission, and forum posting.

•If you would like to try promoting more than one product, you can create a “review” site or blog, at which you can write reviews on various, similar products. You can create a comparison chart to show people what each product has to offer and then let them decide on which one would be best for them.

Although it's the easiest way to start a home business, affiliate marketing does take time. You can't expect to become a millionaire overnight. However, if you pick the right product(s), create a good website and/or blog, and establish yourself as an expert in then niche, you will eventually make some sales. It's in your best interest to be consistent and persistent with your research and work.

      You must give serious thought to your copywriting skills so you can not only move the free line, but also give perks along the way to educate your prospects. Give and you shall recieve.

      The principle is a wash, rinse and repeat process no matter what hot market demand you do......but you must always include compelling offers and ethical bribes that force a timely return on your investment.....you do that with basic math on determining the time it takes you to package a campaign launch for the pre-sell and what you believe you are worth an hour.

    Is it necessary to sign up with a group such as Online Data Entry Institute, or Global Cash Flow Network, just companies that show you the ropes on how to become an affiliate. The way the advertising is written for these companys actually make it sound as if you will receive info online and fill in a form and submit it in order to get paid. Actually its not like that and it can be very costly to join the company to learn marketing affiliating. I have tried several times to do this type of at home work but it becomes frustrating and I have to spend quite some time chatting online or calling in for help. I understand that you can make quite a bit of cash with marketing but when you dont have the cash to put into it to start and then have to put more cash into it for additional learning materials and so forth even into advertising or mailing lists, you end up more broke before you make money. Is all this necessary, is there something less stressful on the pocket and brain. Maybe affiliate marketing is not what I need. I am looking for something online to make money through without the heavy cash give out and headache to learn. I just know the basic stuff of computer usage not what I am reading and I feel really lost.

      If you are just starting out, I would recommend that you begin this adventure with digital products. Easy to fulfill, and low production cost means the merchant can usually afford to give you (the affiliate) a nice big cut of the sale. E-books, E-courses, and software.

      Once you kind of have an idea about your interests, you need to figure out if there are good products out there with affiliate programs, and if a market exists for the product. You don't want to waste time, energy, and money on something no one is going to buy, right.

      Step 3:
      Do some research. I like to check the magazine and the books section of Amazon. Navigate to the Magazine Subscriptions section and click on the category that most closely matches your interests. Notice that Amazon lets you know which subscriptions are the top sellers (Customer Favorites). This is great data. Also, if there is a magazine, then there are probably people who buy and read it. This is also great information.

      Anyway, all we are trying to do here is determine if there is a viable market for our interest, and trying to identify a specific product to promote. So let's just say you are interested in fitness, so you go to Health, Mind, and Body category, and you see that Maximum Fitness is a top seller, and you are an exercise nut. Cool, looks like it's probably a seller, and the cover is a buff dude with a six pack stomach. Well who doesn't ant that?

      Step 4:
      Find a good product with an affiliate program. A good place to start is clickbank for digital product. Go to the marketplace, select the Health and Fitness category, and browse the list. This is sorted by popularity as well, so most popular products are listed first. In the list you see several products that seem good, but maybe Truth About Abs catches your eye, and you decide that you want to look deeper into the product.

      Step 5:
      Make sure you are a believer. Check out the product sales page, subscribe to the list, hell, if you want to really understand it, just buy it. Go through the entire process that your prospective referrals will go through. If there's an inconsistency, you might want to scrap it and look for something else. If they do what they say, and they over deliver the value, than it's probably a winner.

      Step 6:
      Sign up for the affiliate program and access the affiliate tools. Pick a recommended traffic strategy as suggested in the affiliate area, call or email the affiliate manager and speak to them about what methods are working, and just do it. Get out there and promote it. Write some articles, run a small PPC campaign, set up a blog, start some social media, and you are an affiliate marketer.

      This is a very open ended question. Unfortunately there is a cap on what you can learn on your own versus working with someone directly who is experienced with the field. Like SEO, affiliate marketing can differ from day to day on what works and what does not. You say you have a full time job, but without proper exposure to the field it can be difficult to bring in a sufficient income from it, even if part time. I would say do your research via searching and forums and NOT from all these sites getting you to sign up.

      Then I would follow it up by contacting an established affiliate marketing company and asking about doing part time work for them, and selling their ads and lists.

      It is very possible to make money off of affiliate marketing.

      First thing though, I highly recommend against using adwords when you're first starting out. Google Adwords is PPC marketing and is one of the more difficult and costly methods. It is really easy to screw up with it and when you do, you can end up losing quite a bit of money.

      I'm glad you recognize and are not looking to "get rich quick." A lot of marketers fall for scams because this is what they aim for. You need to work and put in time and effort to earn profits.

      There are a bunch of ways to go about affiliate marketing and a few of them are actually free. These include article marketing and video marketing. You can actually submit articles about a product on sites like squidoo, which don't cost a thing to write. Or you could create a video review of products on sites like YouTube.

      That being said, there is a right and wrong way to go about your approaches. The difference is why some people profit well off their ventures while others see there attempts collecting dust. A site that really helped me out is 404 reviews.

      This won't happen overnight for starters. Firstly, forget affiliate marketing, doesn't work... Go for just Google Adsense. Make directories and information websites, you need many hundreds of pages to each site, you need to understand good basic optimisation and marketing techniques. 12 visitors to a site will do you nothing. You need several hundred thousands of people a day to make a site work for you inthis way. OR you need many sites with thousands of visitors. It took me 6 years to get my Adsense earning me a full time income and 15+ sites! Take your time, work hard and use common sense and you'll get there.

      I find it interesting to post such a question on something as public as Yahoo Answers: I wonder how many people will post dozens of affiliate links to GRQ programs etc!

      Personally, my experience of affiliate marketing is making a little income through Amazon Associates (laptops and books) and a Wholesale Directory. In every case, the pages with the links on weren't especially promoting the product in question. You could call this 'passive affiliate marketing'. I did have a lot of traffic though until I sold up.

      My current website, I'm focusing a bit more on active promotion where I feature and talk about the product in question.
