Knives. hA ha ha. that was even worse. she had to pay 173 for the samples and then when she did sell them they were pissed because she didn't sell them to the correct age group. i was like that is whatyou get.Create a website about something that you know a lot about (recipes, how to fix a car, photography, stamp collecting...). Then you can make money by running some ads on the site.

     What you have heard is wrong, Maybe a gold farming company with a few chinese gold farmers working can make 200$ a day. But as a lone player you couldn't possibly farm enough gold a day without going crazy to sell that much. As well as players go to well known gold farming companies to buy gold as they are trustworthy. Not to say you aren't trustworthy but you would need to get your name out there. As for leveling and selling characters it takes atleast 6-10 play time on average to hit level 70 depending on the class and you will have terrible gear and an average mount just hitting 70 so you won't be able to sell your character for much at all. So personaly with the amount of time you consume i do not think it is worth it.

      It is extremely difficult! If you spent a normal workday on it, even if you were very familiar with the "code", you would make approximately 2-4 dollars an hour. Its possible to make a good sum, but people who can are very lucky, diligent, and employ other people to do it for them in most cases.

      Remember, if it really was that easy to make money in SL, then tons of people would be flocking to that market. Although its a popular game, very, very few people play it as a job.

      I know it can be frustrating with so many people promising that they have the solution, but most are as you say, "Junk!". The truth is anyone claiming that you will make thousands as soon as you sign up with their site is a scammer. I have yet to find one website that will make you thousands of dollars once you sign up. The legitimate sites that you can make money on take time and effort before you will start making decent money. I use cashcrate, and I like referring people to it because it is an honest site that has always paid me, and never claims that you ill get rich with it. After putting alot of time into it, I now get a decent income from it. I make an average of 0 a month from my referrals alone. It took telling alot of people everywhere about it, but even if I dont work on it for the month I still get a 300 dollar check which is pretty nice.       SL is laggy - which is why you were freezing up. In 2 years the number of people in world at any one time has more than doubled. Even with a computer that goes beyond the system requirements you will still encounter lag and feezing up in some areas. Hopefully, it's something that will improve with the next viewer candidate.

      As for making money, well yes it's possible. Many people make and sell things in SL and that's where everything your avatar owns comes from - the skills of other residents. Making a profit requires you to be making something that is high quality that people want to buy. Making a big enough profit to make a real life living requires you to be amazingly good at making things; releasing lots of new products; and building a high profile for yourself where your new releases are awaited with anticipation. This also means that you have to put a lot of investment into your SL business by buying the land for your store, building the store and treating it like a full-time job. Some people will invest over 00 USD in their business before making anything back. If you buy your own region, you will need to have 0 USD put aside each month for tier fees plus the cost of premium membership. You can start smaller and build up, but these days the really good designers are very organised and work together to provide shopping centres featuring their wares. No single group is more adept at this than the Japanese and in the last year, they have gone from hardly no presence in SL to producing the very best clothing, skins, shoes and hair in SL and selling them in communal areas that are pleasing to explore. They are canny because they sell things much cheaper than anyone else and are all very high quality. They are also proliffic with new releases and have organised events to promote each other. Western designers in SL are lagging way behind in this and nowhere near as selective about the quality of goods produced by people using their shopping areas. To be honest, Western designers need to rethink their marketing strategies in SL right now, because the Japanese are wiping the floor with everyone as far as goods and expansion goes. You only need to explore an SL shopping mall designed by Americans or Europeans and then go to a Japanese mall to see the difference in quality, choice and prices. This is no more obvious than in the area of male fashions in SL. Western male fashions are dull - pants and T shirts is about the best you can expect, plus maybe the odd suit or tux. The Japanese are producing high fashion for guys in SL and also a lot of fun clothes that look very realistic. Fun fashion was very much a female thing in SL for a long time. For example, the Japanese make schoolgirl outfits for girls (something the Western designers have always done in SL) but the Japanese have realised that part of the fun of Cosplay is for the guys to have matching school outfits too. They sell like hot cakes! They make a lot of guys outfits that match or complement their female outfits. Maybe the key is that they see the bigger picture. I suggest you check out stores like CE Cubic Effect and Sweetest Goodbye in SL and see what you are up against.Take a stroll around Bare Rose main store (if you can endure the lag of such a huge place that is always full of people) and check the number of colour option you get with those amazing outfits - then look at the prices. After that, go to a Western store like Redgrave, Muism or Maitreya (all wonderful stores, but expensive) and compare the prices and what you get for your money.

      So to make a profit in SL that can become a real life income, you need to create something really good at a reasonable price, have lots of new items of the same or better quality and invest in a shopping environment that people want to come to. That's a heck of a lot of work and you STILL may not make enough to cover your monthly outgoings. Plus, if you are in Europe, any money you recieve in SL is charged VAT, as is tier costs and premium membership fees. Finally, if you are European, any monitary transaction you make in SL right now is poor because of the terrible exchange rate. What you pay into SL costs more and what you get back converts to much less. Over the last 5 months, a lot of European designers in SL have gone out of business as their sales have dropped due to the economic downturn and their profits have been further reduced by the terrible exchange rate.

      ...and in 8th grade i would go to costo buy large packs of orbit gum, skittles, and starburst and sell them for a dollar at school, I made a hundred dollars profit off that in 4 weeks.

      ...in 9th grade I made a bunch of websites and tried to get money off that, it did not work so great.

      ... this year (10th grade) I took 135 dollars and started to make business contacts in china. I then started to import things from china (wholesale) and began to sell them on eBay. In a couple months I was rolling in 1,500. I would not recommend importing from China unless you have a great, honest and trust worthy contact that wont rip you off.

      ... then (still 10th grade) I took 1,300 and invested it in the stock market. I started to play with stock options and i turned 1,300 into 3,000 in 2 weeks.

      I hate to be the one to break it to you, but unless you have a lot of time and a lot of money to invest, you aren't likely to make a whole lot in SL. It's not like it was back in 04-06. Back then there weren't a lot of people flooding the market with their wares, and there wasn't as much free stuff available, so people bought more. Now, unless you fill a very unique niche, are really, REALLY good at what you make, or you have some kind of Hybrid SL/RL business, you're more likely to break even or go broke than you are to actually make a living. It's not impossible, but without a HUGE initial investment, buying and selling land is WAY out of the question. And the goods market is very competitive, because the top of the line stuff is extremely top of the line, and that's about the only stuff people will pay for. (Why pay when you can get something of equal quality for free?)

      As for getting a job to make money, that's a whole different story, but the ending is about the same. There are Dj gigs that aren't too bad if you can Dj, but if you can't they're not going to do you any good. There are stripper gigs that do fairly well, but if you're not that kind of girl, or you're not old enough, or, like me, you're morally opposed, then those are out. Sadly, those are about the only kind'a jobs that'll make any sort of mentionable money in SL. Otherwise, I wouldn't hold my breath hoping that I'd found the ideal work-at-home opportunity, because you're more likely to starve before SL becomes lucrative.

      You cannot make money playing WoW without resorting to illegal means. Furthermore, you would not make a substantial amount doing this. Most of the people who really pull a profit are doing it with Chinese pseudo sweat shops; paying low wages to Chinese gamers to play for extended periods of time. (And again, this is not legal!)

      I would look into other avenues of making money…like making sure you have a good job.

      There are none that you can do without having any specific knowledge. There are people that make money being affiliates, some will produce software, create websites or/and graphics.
      From zero you will ideally set up a blog and start blogging.
      Or even look at other people's blogs, see the banners on them they are ads from google or similar networks, when people click on them you get a few pennies or a few dollars.

      Yes, you can make money and you will make more than you paid for supplies BUT, what about time? Unfortunately, with crafts that take a lot of time, your "hourly rate" is poor. For example, say you spend 20 hours making a blanket. Most people will seriously balk at buying it for 0, but even at that price, you would be making less than .00 an hour for your time after supply expenses.

      I recently attended a fair to sell some of my crafts. I had a few items that honestly took me over twenty hours a piece to make. They were intricate, but the final produce was smaller than an index card. My supplies cost was less than .00. The time I put into them was worth far, far more than the finished value. I priced them at and figured that at least I had the enjoyment of making them, but that basically meant I was making around .00 an hour for very intricate work. At one point, a rather rude woman was handling them and commented they were nice, but not nice. She was completely ignorant of the fact that I spent over 20 hours working with tiny parts to make it! Yes, some customers will understand the time that goes into hand making special items, but the majority of people will wonder why it costs so much more than in a cheap department store.

      So, my point is, yes you can make money. And, if it is a hobby you truly enjoy, it may be worth it to make a very low hourly rate, but sadly, with most crafts, you can probably make more money getting a part time job.

      If you do want to do well with craft profit, I would suggest something you really enjoy and can put your unique mark on. Also, look for ways to work quickly or items that make more money for the time you put into them.

      Yes you can make money, but you don't make very much. My favorite site (the only one I've found worth while) is swag bucks. Swag bucks uses a google based seach engine that gives you a chance to win "swag bucks" when you search. But its slow because you can't just spam searches, only the first 20 searchs you do per day have a chance of winning. you get an average of 1-5 points per day by searching. Since i search everyday anyway I use swag bucks to make a bit of extra cash. I've gotten a couple 10 dollar gift cards so far and a 50 dollar card.

      I usually make about a month from taking the surveys through those various sites, and if they have an affiliate program, I'm part of it, so I also make a commission when someone signs up through that link.

      There are also scams out there you need to watch out for. Here are some tips to avoid them:

      Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

      Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not aggregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

      Yes. You can earn Lindens within SL and convert them into USD and transfer those funds into a Paypal account.

      Very few residents in SL actually earn enough money to have an impact though. There are a few that earn enough within SL that their only income is generated from within SL but those people are rare. Land flippers, creative designers of goods unique to SL and certain types of service providers are what come to mind when I think of SL "success". There are other ways to earn some pocket change within SL-- amounts small enough so that it isn't worth converting into USD and transferring out of the game because of the conversion/transfer fees. Examples that come to mind with that are "jobs" working as a host or even being a personal escort.

      SL really shouldn't be approached with the idea that a person is going to make money. The markets are glutted with items that are cheap and/or free, land sales are sort of stagnant...I can't tell you how many people I know that get a "novel!" idea in their heads and decide to open up a club in SL. pfft. It'll last a month or two before it closes (ok...one of my friends surprised me. His club has been open for about a year now. But, I think he runs it for the pleasure of it, not to make money.)

      Now I'm not saying that it isn't possible. But, in SL, a person has to be willing to invest A LOT of time, effort and good ol' cash to get the money ball rolling. It's been done before and people will continue to work hard and reap the rewards.

      But, usually when a person sits down and figures out how much they have earned in SL and considers how much time and effort it took...they soon realize that they were working for much less than usd/hour. Is it worth it?

      Money aside...SL is a wonderful place to meet people from all around the world. Building and creating within SL can give a lot of personal satisfaction. Maybe with that in mind coupled with lots of hard work, you can establish yourself as an SL success story.

      The only people who make money in SL without creating items to sell are erotic dancers and escorts. I know of one person who charges L00 for 30 minutes cybersex using voice chat.

      Personally I think it's a pretty sad way to spend your time unless you have a big thing for cybersex and you don't mind the possibility of at least one of your clients becoming an online stalker.

      The buying and selling of land is no longer the big financial draw it once was. The owners of SL are forever messing around with land prices, so you can buy land and end up not being able to rent it because tier price has increased to a point where no one wants your land. The other problem with getting into the land selling/renting business is that it requires a truly massive initial financial outlay, and unless you have a sizeable amount of money to invest, it's not going to be a viable money-making method.

      If you have a decent art program, such as PhotoShop, you could try your hand at photography in SL. Best is to try getting work as a wedding photographer. As you make money, invest it back into your business. Buy poses and specialist pose stands. Consider buying one of the specific photo studios available in SL. Fact is though, photography doesn't earn you a great deal in SL and most people do it just for the pleasure of it.

      A cheaper initial outlay would be to buy a very nice skin, shape, eyes and hair and some nice clothes. Then invest in a good AO and try your hand at SL modelling. MODA takes new models from time to time and my friend is the person who trains models for them. MODA are one of a handful of busy modelling agencies in SL.

      Personally, I think the best way to get money in SL is to buy it. I'd much rather do that than have to rely on work as a model (yes, I've done that) or trying to get photography work (yes, I've done that too). I sell clothes when I can be bothered to make new ones, but it's a hobby for me more than a job. Same with the modelling and photography which I only ever do on special request these days.

      To be honest, this whole idea of having to have a job in SL seems such a waste of time to me. There is so much more you can do. I strongly suggest that for now you just buy some money and have fun. Jobs in SL tend to present themselves to you, or at least they always have for me. Apart from making clothes, every job I've done in SL has been one that has been offered to me, rather than something I've gone looking for. So I suggest you have fun, go places, make friends with people and you just may be surpised at what is presented to you.

      Word of warning though. If someone you hardly know asks you to contribute financially towards some money-making idea, most likely you are the money-making part of it and you won't get anything back. There are more than a few scammers in SL who create an alt, drag folks into some scheme or scam and once they have passed the cash on to their main avatar, they cancel that account, create a new avie and start all over again.
