      I work for EA Sports and closely associate with the marketing department. The sports marketing group here basically handle communication with ESPN, other major sports media markets, TV/Movie companies, publicists for athletes/celebrities/musical groups and artists, as well as the celebrities and athletes themselves.

      Some schools I know we recruit from are: Ohio State, Univ. of Cincinnati, Michigan State, North Carolina Tarheels, Stanford, Cal, Florida State, Xavier, Perdue and most other major Universities with huge sports programs. Good luck with your future plans!

      You can get a bachelor of business administration in Marketing there. However, UTD is known primarily for its graduate programs; I have not heard the type of positives about their undergraduate programs that I have about those at Austin or Arlington, for example.

      Oh boy, you're probably going to get a bunch of people who are affiliates selling their stuff here in reply - not objective answers. I just want to give you an objective reply so that you can make a wise decision about all the things you'll read about here and online.

      There are three important facets to selling online:

      Traffic generation - that is getting people who might be inclined to buy to your website. Lots of different ways to do that. Article sites. Google ads. Safelists - and on and on.

      The site itself - needs to be set up in such a way that it's navigation friendly, search engine friendly and looks professional for what you'll be marketing.

      The copy - must be written in an emotionally compelling way so that people say, "Wow - I want that!" and feel like they just gotta have it. Pictures alone don't do it. Fancy bells and whistles don't either. It's about the copy. (That's my expertise more than the technical pieces.)

      Oh, and a fourth - the product and pricing must be something that's quality and that people really want.

      I don't know of one product that provides all that - and I've attended a lot of fancy-schmancy Internet Marketing seminars over the years where they sell more of these programs. There are different programs for different facets of internet marketing.

      If you mean marketing in general, there is a lot more involved than just presentations. Presentations are definitley a part of it, but so is strategy, creativity, communication your ideas one on one, etc. If you have sound ideas and can get your ideas across to a handful of people in a room or a single person in an office, you can do well in marketing.

      If you mean for sales there can be lots of presentations. However, I am a terrible presenter (I detest powerpoint) but make quota every year. I just focus on my one on one skills, take good care of my clients and follow through on everything to compensate. I've seen a lot of people who are terrific at presentations who aren't good sales or marketing people.

      Salesguy.org ran a survey of sales people and coaches of the top traits of sales and marketing people awhile ago. I don't know if they still have it available. You can also do a web search and come up with a lot of sites to guide you.

      Well, I have spent a gazillion hours looking into this myself. I've learned a lot through the trial and error method and the school of hard knocks because I've actually used several different ones.

      I've also gotten opinions from some of the "super affiliate" top marketers on the web who have big lists they email to all the time.

      So here goes a brief rundown of what I've learned:
      1. i contact is the cheapest and most basic. very few frills.
      2. constant contact is a step above icontact in terms of bells and whistles but if you boil it all down they are not that different (cc costs a bit more).
      3. Lyris is a lot more than just an email program. They offer some pretty awesome data and lead-tracking capabilities through their own software. If you want to be able to track the buying behavior of all website visitors, such as those who buy in a store vs. online vs over the phone, etc. then this is the one for you.
      4. Almost EVERY super affiliate with the big email lists strongly recommend Aweber for the highest open rates in the industry. (And the thus the highest % read and the lowest deleted %, etc.)

      They've got the greatest autoresponder programs for you, which provides the most important element to making money: Continual followup with different people in the right way.

They will help get you set up with internships through programs like ADstock, where you can meet with interested industry professionals. They have classes like AdAgency that let you work on real projects for real clients. And if you are smart enough to use the portfolio center to the fullest extent, you graduate with a portfolio that will impress prospective employers and hopefully land you a job. I graduated from the Marketing Communications program at Columbia and I met the Executive Creative Director at the agency where I work through my Portfolio Review. I have a great job as a copywriter, and I know many Columbia graduates that have gotten jobs in the field as well. I would definitely recommend the MC program to any aspiring creative willing to put in the time and effort.

    Would it be alot easier to get into then the other programs? Also what would I need to do & have to get into this program?

      I recently have been accepted to the FMM program, but I have a friend who's going for AMC and they're basically the same requirements.
      It's about the 3rd hardest major to get into there. You need really good grades and an excellent essay to get in, since it's a business major and doesn't require a portfolio. Above a 3.0 is really good for that, essay counts too.
      Also, the earlier you apply, the better. You first have to fill out your SUNY application, you get a confrimation/letter in the mail that your app has been recived, and you use the myFIT ID they give you in the email to continiue with your application.
      That is a great major and I hope you pursue it.
