There are many effective approaches to using social marketing to grow your business. Social networks like MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Tagged, and the professionally oriented LinkedIn site are all the rage today. Did you know Facebook is currently growing by 500,000 new users a day!
When used properly, social networking sites can provide massive leverage to grow your business. Just think about how many of the 500,000 new Facebook users each and every day could be potential customers for your business.
But for many people, social networking can also be a huge time sink if you don't know how to connect the dots and have people in your social networks buying from you. You need to be careful and present your business in the appropriate way, without spamming or turning off your online friends, and potentially damaging your relationship with them forever. You've got to get them to know, like, and trust you before they will do business with you, especially on the internet.
We're going to assume you've already chosen the appropriate social networks for your industry or business, opened your accounts, and established some friends. What's the next step? One of the best ways to form a solid business relationship with your network and get more sales is to host an event. It can be a webinar, teleseminar, or in person event. If you live in a remote geographic area, it will be more difficult to get a big turnout for an in person event, but if you live in a populated area you can get a good turnout. The potential is huge for online events.
After you've picked the type of event, follow these 5 steps to get massive amounts of targeted, free real-time leads.
Step 1. A few weeks before the event write an online press release and submit it to a couple of free online press release sites like PRLog and PressAbout. Setup a google alert on the keywords in the press release. The keyword alert will tell you when your press release gets published. When the free online press release gets picked up, then go to paid online services like WebWire and PRWeb.
You should start getting free, targeted web traffic from the press releases and will be able to view statistics on how many times your press release was viewed and distributed.
Step 2. If you have a website or blog, write about the event on your site. Take the blog entry and turn it into an article and post it on social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Tweet about it on twitter. Then post your event on EventBrite.com.
Step 3. Tell all of your social marketing friends about the event, and ask them to share it with their friends.
Step 4. Create a short Powerpoint presentation about the content of your event and yourself. Post the slides at SlideShare.net with a transcript.
Step 5. Turn the Powerpoint presentation into a video and submit the video on YouTube and TubeMogul.
Make sure to send people to your social marketing site or blog page that tells a little bit about yourself. Have people register for the event and send them an email reminder the day before the event and the day of the event.
Follow these 5 steps to generate free real-time leads, then provide valuable content at your event and you will be leveraging your time on social marketing sites into business sales, not just hanging out and having a good time.
And now I would like to invite you to claim your FREE ACCESS to "15 Ways To Grow Your Business Online". Just click here to send me a blank email and you'll start receiving valuable information that can help you get more traffic to your website or blog and make more money from your visitors.

I'm in school and I just wanted to know if there was any real affiliate marketing sites cause I did research on most sites and well they turned out to be scams.-

No. There are no honest "affiliate" sites which sell good products at a fair price. They all just want you to recruit new "members".Most businesses want more buyers for their products. The "affiliate" sites only want more sellers. That is not a business-model that can work.
You won't make any money at those sites.

What are some great sites to sell direct marketing consumer lists to businesses quickly?
I have some direct marketing lists that I want to sell. They are generalized, regional specific lists (mostly customers based in Florida) and I want to try to sell them to people looking to expand their businesses, either those located in Florida or trying to build a base in Florida.I am selling them cheaper than the going rate because I am just getting started. QUESTION:
Social Networking sites and marketing - is it worth the time and effort?
I have been thinking about joining into myspace and others to help promote a business. Does this work? Is it really worth the time to set up a nice "space" or do the members of these places just view such things as spam?Any experience with linkedIn?
Any lists of niche social networking sites - especially those focused on business or education?
-
ANSWER:
I have a myspace account for personal use and I hate it when people want to network because they have a business. I mark them as spam all the time. Whenever I talked to people about different products, they always say I am a sales man and don't listen to me.If you want to set up a myspace account because you need more business, than you should develop your own site.
I can help you build your own site and get the traffic you need. I will show you the same system that I use to get results on the net. It is simple to use and takes as much effort and time as using myspace except you own it and control it.
My site is geared towards mlm people but if you are not an mlm person, that is ok. It will work for all business professions.

QUESTION:
Speaking about online cash paid surveys, Is there anyone willing to share the marketing sites with me?-
ANSWER:
The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.
Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).
The article "Earning Money from Surveys" provide a short list of legitimate market research firms and contains explanations of what to look for when joining surveys (and weeding out the fraudulent ones)

QUESTION:
Do yo know good sites to promote my new Marketing for Movies blog?
I have just started a new blog/web site http://www.marketingformovies.com that I would like it to become a space of genuine debate of film marketing strategies and tips.
Can someone help me with cool links?-
ANSWER:
Submit a press release to http://www.webwire.com and put a link to your blog in the first line. Make sure the title has keywords and is just announcing your blog website and not "blatantly promoting". Throw in another link to your site near the end of the press release. There are three sections below that for links, put another there and a video link if you have one is great. Let me know if you need one created on the cheap.Be sure to choose marketing as a category and then the other relevant categories, such as entertainment. The marketing category will make it go viral on Twitter.
Here's a suggested title: "Marketing For Movies Announces New Blog Website To Discuss Strategies And Tips"
You can also submit some of your blog articles to http://www.socialmarker.com or http://www.ezinearticles.com.

QUESTION:
Does anyone know of any Web sites that feature marketing campaigns that were successful?
I'm looking for examples of marketing strategies that worked worked and why. And if numbers are included that's always good too ...-
ANSWER:
If you are talking about online marketing, then there are some sites where you can learn about your competition. Try spy-fu.com. It used to be free, but now you have to pay to use it. It lets you look at the keywords, bids and other information about other companies online advertising. It's pretty cool.As for strategies that work, here are a few to get you started:
1. Capitalize The First Letter Of Each Word - people are more likely to click
2. Never say "Save 30%". No one cares. Give an exact number, like "Only 9".
3. You can't say Best, but you can say "unbeatable".
4. Always run a few ads and decide which one brings in the most sales
5. Use analytics. You can get a great analytics program for free from google. Try google.com/analytics to sign up
6. Join an affiliate program. There is usually a sign up fee, look at "commission junction" for example, but after that fee, you only pay a commission on sales, so you only pay if you are making money. It's a win win
7. Lastly, Google, Yahoo and MSN all offer tools for you to find keywords... Use them, but with a grain of salt. Those tools are not designed to give you conversions, they're designed to make money for Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Any good food marketing sites?
Any good sites with food marketing tips/facts on them.. they cannot be .com sites though.. need answers tonight if possible plz.. also does anyone know the stats on which days of the week are most/least popular to go grocery shopping on? Thanks a bunch
-
ANSWER:
I would just do a search on food marketing. If you are just starting out, I would have a big party and invite lots of people such as friends and family but also people like beauty shop owners or small store owners. If you feel like being bold, try large companies too. Tell them that you're trying to start a business and having a get together. It may cost you a lot out of pocket, but it's a great way to advertise and let people sample your food. Make sure you print out business cards and hand them out at your party. Good luck!!!

QUESTION:
Can anyone explain how to use social networking sites for marketing?-
ANSWER:
MySpace is probably best suited for viral marketing. Tila Tequilla is a great example of someone that literally made her career based on MySpace. Take a look at her profile and you'll see what I mean. She's brilliant at it.YouTube is a great way to do viral marketing also. BMW had a great marketing campaign on there that was essentially a series of short action movies. They were so cool that word of mouth got the videos a LOT of views.
Professional sites like LinkedIn are best for networking. These would be for developing B2B contacts were who you know is more important than what you know.

QUESTION:
I want to start an in home net-work marketing business, where & what web sites can I look up?-
ANSWER:
HI and best of luck with your search for a networking business.I would make one suggestion - don't get your information (or at least not all your information) from a website.
As a success coach, I can tell you I've seen it time and time again. Websites that sell the "sizzle" very well but underdeliver on the "steak".
Your best course of action may be to skip the website entirely and do a bit of homework.
Figure out what areas interest you - health, nutrition, telecom, etc. Then tailor your search for that type of company. Be sure to ask the tough questions: has the company been in business successfully for at least five years, what are the gross monthly sales, who will mentor you, and questions like that.
There's a pretty good list of networking companies here:

QUESTION:
What marketing strategy/tatics would be recommanded for internet based sites?
many business are now web based for example blogging and many more. but marketing strategy for physical shops or companies somewhat seem to be different from those that is internet based. so what sort marketing strategy are there for web based?-
ANSWER:
The problem with most physical shops, well here anyways, are that they know they need a website, they just don't understand why. They don't see it as a potentially potent marketing channel, but rather as another consumer touch point.Having a website isn't a marketing strategy though, finding targeted website traffic and pulling them to your website is where marketing comes in. The most popular online marketing tools are:
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Marketing
Social Media Optimization
Pay Per Click Campaigns
Email Marketing Campaigns
Digital Advertising and AdservingWith any marketing strategy, it is imperative that all tactics employed run systematically. They should compliment each other and speak one clear marketing message, although they might pull consumers from different concerns of the web, they should be designed to work together and this is known as integrated marketing communications, IMC.
All brands should use their conventional above the line and below the line communication strategies, but they should ALSO invest in a digital strategy. Your above the line communication can increase brand awareness, your below the line can get consumers to the point of purchase, and your digital can do both.

QUESTION:
Network Marketing sites: Which is better? Clickbank, 2Checkout, PayDotCom or something else?
I'd like to hear from people that have actually used these sites successfully and can share their insight. Thanks in advance.
Don't 2Checkout offer the same affiliate feature that Clickbank offer? If not, are there any other sites that offer this service?
Actually the main reason why I asked this question was to establish what site had the best features to promote my product.-
ANSWER:
The answer depends on what you want to do. I'm presuming you are interested in online payment options. If you are selling digital only products the clickbank is a good option. ClickBank does NOT let you sell physical products.
Another advantage is that it has a built in affiliate program so that other people can easily sell products for you and get a commission you set. I believe it costs about to set up a sellers account - affiliate accounts are free.
*I am an affiliate but do not have a sellers accountIf you sell digital (recurring memberships, ebooks, etc) and physical products then I would suggest 2Checkout.com. Basically they act as your reseller and process credit cards for the customer and you are the supplier. They charge a one time setup fee as well.
*I have a 2checkout accountPaypal is a good payment processor option as the money is available instantly. They are great if you are using eBay (eBay owns PayPal). If you are in Network Marketing however Paypal will no longer accept payment for programs that have more than 1 tier of affiliates in their system. Thus if your program is to pay on 5 or 7 levels they will not accept you.
*I have a paypal accountAnother option is to visit your own Bank and apply for a merchant account. Most banks specialize in either VISA or MC so you may need 2 bank accounts. I think SAMs Club deals with DISCOVER.
*I have had merchant accounts (VISA/MC/AMEX)I haven't used paydotcom so I have no idea about it
If you sell only digital products then Clickbank is good because of the built in affiliate program. If you sell physical products and digital products then I would say 2Checkout.
You could have both for 0 - pretty small investment
Paypal is great for auctions because of the connectivity with eBay
Hope this helps

QUESTION:
do most Internet marketing sites succeed or fail?-
ANSWER:
Online spending hits £4bn a month. Now, I am sure that's not done by a few companies e.g 2%. This is the report of 2007.Wet weather was one factor behind last month’s internet spending boom, said the report, by the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG), the industry body which represents e-retailers. Online spending hit £4.2 billion during July - up 80% year-on-year.
Sales of clothing, footwear and accessories were also stronger than ever before. IMRG managing director Jo Evans said the online sales surge was surprising.
"This data is sound. It reveals the extent to which the retail sector is being transformed by frictionless e-commerce," she said.
"Major brands are bringing on-stream the next generation of slick new internet retailing services, and consumers are flocking to use them."
Electrical goods were popular items last month as shoppers stocked up ahead of their summer holidays.
Since last year many firms had launched or updated their websites and expanded their online shopping ranges to boost sales, the IMRG said.
The online sales data is based on the IMRG’s ongoing survey of UK online spending.
Yes, there are failures but billions are made on the internet by companies who approach the Internet market professionally, who plan, goal set, who approach clientele with personal touch, who have high standard of customer service and who.....tap into a niche market.
It is not the market that is the problem but the way people have yet treated business as business e.g. professionally and with a thinking of "out of the box."

QUESTION:
Affiliate Marketing sites....tricking search engines....spying on other competitors....what is your take this?
There are A LOT of advertisers on the Net now promoting affiliate marketing and internet sites selling digital ebooks and other such products, using techniques that could be called both questionable morally and ethically, or even legally. What do you all think about all this? One such book recently that is very popular is called The Rich Jerk....it is popular, but gives advice to people to use tactics that are morally unethical...thus, the term "rich jerk"......do we want to let them get away with this crap? Seems like the search engines themselves will start changing their entire set-up of their programming to prevent these scam artists from making money off of them.....most of these people claim to have made "millions at home" from these tactics. Anyone actually tried some of them and it worked....anyone actually tried them and then felt guilty for the tactics used to make such money? Anyone wonder if the legality of all this is going to come down on these people one day?-
ANSWER:
Its not right but more and more companies are doing this. Right now not that many laws about it. Its going to keep the federal government and state governments busy enacting laws about this. Be kind of tough to catch but it will make law enforcement and lawyers busy in the future.

QUESTION:
I want to find sites that give Marketing advice for a handyman?-
ANSWER:
Heya, marketing for a small business is not too difficult, especially when it's all about what you can do personally. The following might seem a bit 'involved', but it's pretty straightforward and comprehensive. I'm assuming too that your customers are private individuals, not businesses or contractors.Firstly, think of the amount of hours you can work - the maximum? How many clients does this work out as each day/week/month - roughly? What profit will you make each month if you hit the maximum - what's 10-20%?
With that info to start with, you know how many customers you need to reach, how many need to be found within a set time period and how much you should expect to spend finding and keeping them.
There are two ways you will get customers - you will go to them, or they will come to you. Going to them, the direct sales, is about door-to-door, meeting & greeting at shopping malls, turning up at events, sending personalised email. Them coming to you, is all about referrals, advertising, directories, finding you online and publicity.
The smart way to market yourself is to do a bit of everything - that's the integrated approach. For example, don't expect 10,000 flyers to do the trick unless you are supervising their handout and making some follow up visits/calls; don't expect a website to matter unless people know how to find it.
Ok, so you are likely to be focused on a geographic area - your town or county maybe. First, get listed:, look at directories (paper and online; like the yellow pages) that serve this area - when you find a directory you like, check to see if there are any competing businesses in there (make a note). Next, look for businesses that your customers might also use - call them and ask if the directory listing or advertisement has been of any use; if so, make contact and get a price for listing. Ask the sales contact if your competing businesses have advertised with the directory for long; also ask them how many potential customers the service will reach and ask them for any supporting statistics. Divide the cost of the service by the amount of people you can reach with it, then calculate the success percentage (if they gave you one). This gives you a cost to reach just one customer - a calculation like this allows you to compare all forms of marketing expenditure. If you can't get a success percentage (conversion rate), just estimate it at 5-10%.
So, now you have a cost for listing in local directories. Potential customers can find you if they are looking.
Next, lets spike their interest. You can best do this by integrating a bit of sales promotion, a bit of advertising and a bit of public relations (PR). Get in touch with local newspapers or local magazines and ask them if they are interested in doing a profile on your new business. Try to think of interesting stories - the time you made a difference, or the fact that your services are not offered at the moment. Get an idea of their advertising options - the cost, the reach, the likely conversion rate (if no conversion rate, ask for their distribution figures for the last 6 issues, halve it and take 5%). Find out if they can include some PR if you take out an ad - they call this free editorial. If not, try and get a larger ad than the one you pay for - it's negotiation! Also, avoid the classifieds section if you can (unless it's very popular and doesn't have many competing ads) - ask for placement in a section that is relevant to what you do. Perhaps a story on installing drywall (!?!).
Right, you now are listed in local directories, you've advertised in local media, you've got some PR. Next, we'll try some sales promotions - this is getting some flyers printed with a special, time-sensitive offer. Get them printed, have the offer in big letters, then hand them out; personally if possible. Use your business cards as an extra hand-out if you meet someone interested in your services right away - or better still, take their details.
You can also use the flyers to post into mailboxes. If you are really keen, knock on the door to see if they mind accepting 'junk mail' - make it polite and you'll have a real opportunity to make a sale without seeming like a door-to-door salesman.
With the PR and local advertising and the sales promotion, you should really have made an impact. Having your name in the directories (maybe having a website too) will make it easier for people to find you later if they forget your details.
Once your business is steady, you can use marketing tactics to keep people aware of your business. Sponsor a local sports team, or place signs at some of the places you work - both keep your business name at the front of someone's mind, and jog the memories of others.
Finally, you need to make the most of the customers you have. Keep track of their details, offer them special discounts for repeat business (try to make offers about extras rather than cash discounts); ask customers if they are happy - if they are, ask for a referral; if they are not, fix it quick!
With this approach, you will have a target to aim for (working the maximum hours for the maximum profit), you will have a variety of ways to market your services (passive and proactive), plus you will have a way to compare the cost of different options and set a budget that is linked to how much you will earn.
Eventually, you'll work at your maximum capacity - that's when you might want to take on help; either to serve less profitable customers or to allow you to expand your geographic reach.
Good luck, I hope that helps.

QUESTION:
Do Email Marketing sites collect MY customer email addresses for personal use?
I recently signed up for an Email Marketing site that allows a FREE 60 day trial, I noticed their linked company logo on the bottom corner of all my outgoing emails which are forwarded by them. My boss said that she is concerned that if their is a link to their website on the emails that the company can collect OUR customer information/email addresses and use them to solicit themselves. Website Links don't have anything to do with exchanging personal information other than maybe an I.P address, right? And YES I am aware that I am providing Email addresses to the site, however, I called to ask them if the information I provide is used for solicitations and the service representative said 'NO'.-
ANSWER:
Unless your physcially providing this other company with a list of e-mail addresses that you have on file or are in a database, I don't think there's any way they can crack into your system and take them for their own use.

QUESTION:
do you have to pay for affiliate marketing sites? and opinions on the best ones...?
Thanks...-
ANSWER:
Your question is to open. It's had to understand what you are asking. If you mean paying to list your affiliate program, then some sites will do it for free while you have to pay others to get it listed. If you mean joining affiliate programs to earn from them, then most of them you can join and earn from them for free. The ones where you have to pay to signup and use I would be weary of them as they are more likely to be scams.
If you are on about joining affiliate programs for free, then theres hundreds listed at http://www.affiliateseeking.com
If you don't find what you are looking for there, then there are also other affiliate directories on the web.

QUESTION:
How can you make money online using Multi-Level Marketing?
I heard about a lot of people making small extra cash using Multi-Level Marketing sites online. How does it work and is it worth it??-
ANSWER:
OK, so of course everyone on here is trying to get you to visit their sites and sign up with them right? Just make sure if you do multi-level marketing, it is something you are interested in. Because you could lose some money if you aren't 100% into it. It also usually costs some money to start up.Multi-level marketing is like a pyramid. One person tries to recruit people to place into a left leg and a right leg below them. Then they keep adding more and more people below. It is true, the people at the top will make the most money, because they tend get rewarded for having more people below them. But here's the thing. If you actually work at it, and get people interested and working below you, you can start making money as well. The pyramid could go on and on.....so the more people you recruit, the more money you should make.
I actually do multi-level marketing. I recently did some research on this, and I have talked to a lot of people who have had successes and some people who hated it. I found that in order to be successful, you really need to be interested in what you are marketing. Currently I am a Beachbody coach, beacuse I love motivating people and I am trying to keep myself healthy and fit. It cost me 39.95 to start (which is cheaper than most MLM companies) and I know Beachbody does tons of marketing themselves (have you ever seen the p90x , slim in 6, insanity, etc. commercials? That's Beachbody) and they are very well-known, which ups my chances of making sales or getting others interested. Anyway, if you are into being healthy and helping people, then check out the first website listed on my Yahoo Answers profile and click "Coach". It will tell you a lot more about it. You can also e-mail me with any questions.

QUESTION:
Should you always trust online business sites?
I'm looking to buy contact lens online rather through a professionals office because they seem to be much cheaper online. I don't know if I should five my credit card number to sites I've never used before. How will I know they are legit marketing sites?-
ANSWER:
If you do not want to share your credit card number, set up a paypal account.
The are many large, and reputible firms that sell contact online.
Just check with the local Better Business Bureau and then online sites like Yelp to see if the company has a good track record or not.
