The problem is those people in the beginning of the progression opt-out and gobble up the progression faster than Pac-Man. This is known as the "Drop Out Rate".
  
  So what happens when thousands of people are doing this and with the internet it could be millions. You soon run out of people to talk to. And most people are smart enough to know it's a scam so right away you lose a huge part of potential prospects.

  In fact, finally, the numbers will exceed the entire world's population. It is a total dream world, a fantasy, completely out of touch with reality. It always looks good on paper, but none of the "heavy hitters" want to talk about drop-out rates.

  Over 99% of the people who sign up will drop out after a few months or less. So even if you sign up a few people, they will be gone in months, if not weeks, when they find out how many people they have to talk to for just one distributor.
  
  And your friends, co-workers, and relatives will not like you badgering them to join and will avoid you at all costs.
  
  And most of the people who sign up are down-and-out desperate, who can ill afford to waste their money and who may be liable to criminal prosecution for promoting unregistered securities. And that's just in the USA. Foreign companies like Tiens leave you no recourse to any real legal remedies or enforcement.
  
  Most of these programs die eventually leaving the suckers who signed up holding the bag. I had them die on me and not knowing any better, signed up for the latest MLM scam. After several attempts, I finally came to realize that it was all just a scam - some people became almost like religious zealots when they talked about their program that was going to make everyone rich and quick too. I lost a good friend when he believed my wild claims, put down ,000 and lost it all.
  
  The "industry" is full of disingenuous people whose mantra is "Fake it 'til you make it". Doesn't work. More fraud. They will give you testimonials of people who have made money, but they are liars and what they say cannot be proven. If it's so great why is there so much hype?
  
  Here is a trick your upline will employ to get reluctant prospects to sign up. They will tell Ms. Reluctant that they will put some people under her and they take Mr. Hopeful who has already become a distributor and paid the fee and stick him under Ms. Reluctant which forces Ms. Reluctant to either buy in or lose the distributor. This is what happened to me in Herbalife. I was Mr. Hopeful. I thought I was signing up under a successful guy at the top known as a "heavy hitter", but I soon found out I had been scammed. Without telling me, he put me under Ms. Reluctant to force Ms. Reluctant to become a distributor. I did not like my new sponsor and after spending thousands on mailings, I finally dropped out. This is known as "stacking" and is supposedly illegal but it happens all the time.
  
  Listen! My upline in Herbalife made more money selling a sales pamphlet than they did working their MLM business. We mailed out thousands of these pamphlets that we bought from our sponsor for a dime and he probably had them printed for a penny or less. He sold so many of them he had to set up a warehouse to hold and ship them.
  
  Now, it's all done on the Internet via e-mail. But instead of mailing booklets, you get a Web site and collect e-mail addresses. But a fraud is still a fraud no matter what the media is that promotes it.
  
  This was right before the Internet became popular and I was buying mailing lists through mailing list brokers and mailing thousands of booklets with not much success. I was lucky if 1% of 1% signed up as distributors. And they dropped out faster than I could add new ones.. Pretty soon, you run out of quality people to mail to. The internet makes this even worse, but they have to be more careful, but the spam continues to explode.

I am a stay at home mom that was looking for something to do to help with the bills. I joined an online business opportunity that has real potential, I just have no idea what I am doing. I don't need sarcastic comments or useless offers for free e-books or anything else other than real advice from people who have real experience in this industry. What worked or didn't work for you? What do I do now, when it seems like everyone around me is able to build their team and I am just sitting here waiting for someone to notice what I am saying.

  My first piece of advice is to sponsor under the type of person you just described. (Someone who is making it happen in the marketplace now using marketing and sales techniques that match your personality) As you move along in your network marketing career you will encounter successes and challenges repeatedly. Challenges which will be more easily weathered through with the advice and support found in a mentor/apprentice relationship. A sponsor who is also your mentor has a vested interest in working with you.
  
  Second, go to "school" (so to speak) studying and learning about the network marketing profession.
  
  There are four books that I recommend (links in source below):
  
  The first is the Email Marketers Cookbook. This is book authored by a former MLM sponsor of mine. I was able to achieve a 12% response rate in my email campaigns after studying this workbook. This book will teach you how to write compelling ad copy. Ad copy that can be applied to any marketing medium, whether it be direct mail, magazine advertising etc. etc.
  
  The second book is Inside Network Marketing by Len Clements. This book will tell you the truth about Network Marketing and help you understand how it works so you can develop you're own philosophy on the profession. On the marketwave website you can read most of the book for free by going to the articles section.
  
  The third and fourth books are not specifically about MLM but are valuable marketing strategies you should use in your MLM career for selling and/or recruiting. IdeaVirus will teach you how to create an Idea that spreads like a virus (viral marketing) and Permission marketing will show you how to market one to one by first asking for permission, offering value and creating a dialogue that will hopefully end in making the sale. I recommend all of Seth's books.
  
  Bonus: Google Kim Klaver and read a few of her articles. She has a way of explaining MLM in a compelling and easily understandable way that can be adapted to your conversations about the profession.

  Just be careful to NEVER promote your mlm itself. 99% people out there DON'T need another mlm, they need a system.

  MLM is a giant gold mine. How many strike it rich, finding the elusive gold nuggets? 99% of the time, nobody.
  
  How many make money selling tools to gold-diggers? A much, much higher percentage.

What are the ecommerce implications of an artificial neural network?
Ok so i am doing this research paper on how neural networks can help marketers better their campaigns by recognizing trends and forecasting key information. What are some other implications of neural networks as far as online marketing is concerned.

  Given sufficient data nueral networks doing data mining could be the one true solution to spam/junk mail. Broadcast methods are expensive and annoying. If you recieve advertising would you not want it to be relitive to you? I don't mind junk mail that offers serverices and products I might actually use, and the fact I am bombarded by offers I do not have the slightest interest in. Already dumb data mining is used heavily in fund raising campaigns. There are crude attempts to guess a contributer's patterns and maximize contributions that way. If requests are oversent it causes the contributer to burn out. To gain a negitive conotation for the charity/organization which over targets them. They begin to feel less like a supporter and more like a sucker.
  
  This kind of pattern recognition and very specific interest targeting if implimented well could turn marketing from a trade considered less reputable than hookers into a respected and valuable skill.
  
  Why would nural networks suceed over conventional queries? Nueral networks are capable of learning and doing more than applying rigid rule based logic. Nueral nets are capable of context awareness. So for example I personally hate Microsoft products. As such offers about deals on Windows software are actually offensive to me. I would love to hear about offers dealing with Linux or platform independent software however. Broad based catagories are useless when you are dealing with marketing. A concept marketeers fail to understand for some reason. Software is not software. Software comes in a zillion types and flavors. One gun manufacturer earned the hatred of gun enthusiests at one point. Thus sending marketing about this manufactuer would be offensive to many gun lovers. Again an example of even a more specific catagory being useless when it came down to the actual marketing. This context awareness is crucial in creating the sucessfull marketing campaigns of the future. Each year the public becomes less and less tolerent twoards shotgun marketing. Spam has damaged people personally. Crammed mailboxes so full that important and essential email is missed or cannot even be delivered. Mailboxes stuffed to the brim with offers which do not apply at all to the reciever. Whole forests of trees are sacraficed to such waste. People are just not going to take such tactics much longer.
