Affiliate Marketing has been around for a long time. It has many names. Back in the day people would come to your door and try to sell you bibles, encyclopedias, knives, and vacuum cleaners. You might remember those days, or maybe you can ask your mom, dad or grandma if they do. Those sales people, my friends, were the first affiliate marketers. They sold those items for a commission. Not much has changed except the way we find people. With the World Wide Web we don't have to go door to door anymore. We have the Internet to do that for us. (Thank you Al Gore)
Affiliate marketing is selling other peoples products for a commission.
The great thing about affiliate marketing is this.
• You don't need a website.
• You don't need inventory.
• You don't need to talk to customers.
• You don't need to ship anything.
• You don't need to deal with returns.
• You don't need to deal with credit card processing.
• You don't need a fancy office and warehouse.
• You don't need a lot of money.
I personally feel it is the greatest way to make money today. Let me give you an example: Almost all big websites eBay, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Home depot, ClickBank, just to name a few have what they call an affiliate program.
They might be called affiliate programs, referrer programs or associate programs, or even something called a publisher. Basically, they are all the same thing. You sign up with these companies to be an affiliate. They will provide you with a specific link or code that is specific to you and you only. Then, you refer people to your specific link through online promotion. If someone clicks the link that they have provided for you and they make a purchase you get a commission.
The commission can be as small as 4% all the way up to 75% on some digital products. I guess you can consider it the new age vacuum cleaner salesmen. It sounds awesome right! Yes, it is. There is one thing that you do need to be an affiliate marketer, you need to find someone who has done it, and train with them.
You could sign up to be an affiliate, and try to promote your special link. Or, you could follow someone who has already done it. Which would you rather do? Try to figure it out alone, or just follow someone with experience. Think of all the jobs you have had in your life. Did you get training? I don't care if you are a donut maker, a waitress, a mechanic or a doctor, you had to get training. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Follow someone who has done it. The one thing you do need to succeed is training.
If you want to learn how to be an extraordinary affiliate marketer we have a 90 days to ,000 program. We teach ordinary, regular people how to make an extraordinary income. After all, you wouldn't go out and sell vacuum cleaners door to door without knowing how the vacuum cleaner worked. Get the knowledge to succeed. Take Vicks 90 day Challenge. 90 days to ,000. We hold your hand for 90 days until you succeed. I love Vicks vision….so I am going to pass it along. QUESTION:
Affiliate Marketing- How quickly can one start making money?
I've heard that you can make money from affiliate Marketing. Is it worth pursuing? Is it the same as blogging? What is the best way to make money and how much can you make per month?-
ANSWER:
Everyone on this page (so far) is offering you a program (except for Helen) and they all benefit from those programs if you join the programs. But that does not answer your question ...A blog is a type of software that helps you post (display) small articles on the web without having to set up a website. Most software for blogging are free.
Go to http://blogger.com to see some examples or set up a free one.
What's the point of blogging? Well, you can start talking about a specific topic eg beahc vacations. The you promote your blog and get traffic (visitors) to it and build a relationship with your readers.
Then if yor recommend a product or a holiday package from a company some of your readers may buy. If you are an affiliate for tht company, when somone buys you get a commission. The company pays you directly.
So selling (by promoting or recommending) products from other companies that you are registered with as an affiliate is called affiliate marketing.
You can do affiliate markeitng with or without blogging. There are a huge number of ways.
Can you make "quick" money, from affiliate markeitng? Yes and no. It is possible to make "quick" money but not for someone totally new.
When you know what you're doing, you can do anything quickly.
First you need to learn about affiliate marketing. Do some searches. Do not join any prigrams. Just learn from the info already published and there's a ton of it out there.
For example, do a search on
http://ezinearticles.com
for "affiliate marketing". It is completely free. There is no registration or anything else. And LEARN LEARN LEARN.
How much can you make? There's a guy called Chris Wilson I think. He started with affiliate marketing (after learning what to do ... took him a few months). He started earning a few hundred dollars per month .... and eventually hit 0,000 per month.
There are people who make 100K per week!
But the vast majoirty of people never make any money because they do not learn the basics and the intermediate and then the advanced stuff. They learn just a little and don't even apply half of what they learn.
They then give up and move on to another "scheme" or "program" and there are tons of those as you can see from the recommendations (offers) on this page.
And they continue to jump from one program to another. Literally millions of people go on program hopping for 2 or 3 years and spend thousands each and earn nothing.
Don't be one of those. Just learn, apply, monitor the results, make little (but very important) improvements and monitor again. This continuous process willl make rich beyond your imagination and you don't need any schemes or programs or tricks or shortcuts (that don't exist).
Happy learning and earning

QUESTION:
What is the difference between a wholesale supplier and affiliate marketing?
I want to start an online business and I am not sure what is the difference between a wholesale supplier and affiliate marketing. I understand that wholesale companies will dropship for you and affiliate marketing is based on sales. Which one should I do? Should I do a combination of both? Also, do you need a shopping cart for an affiliate marketing business?? Thanks!-
ANSWER:
If you understand that working with a drop shipper means that you sell the product and they stock it and ship it for you and affiliate marketing where you market another vendors product for a commission when a sale is made then you need to ask yourself what you would be more comfortable doing and what you think you could make money doing. Both types of business you will have to do the same thing as far as marketing the site to get the traffic you need to make a conversion. Just because you publish a website for either type business doesn't mean you are visible to the search engines and the public at large, that takes work to get that ball rolling. I would suggest that you go to an article directory an put in an inquiry about the things you need to do and I will also give you some info on some of the things that need to happen to get started.
If you plan to incorporate then you need to register with the federal, state and city government. If you plan to run the business as a sole proprietor then all you need is a business license from your local city government. Some cities do not require you to get a business license until the business makes ,000 to ,000 so see what your local government requires for an e-commerce business.
Steps for getting started:
First and foremost write up a business plan.
1. Forming the business either through incorporating or as a sole proprietor. If you plan to incorporate then you need to get with your states Secretary of State to do this.
2. Find your SIC and NAICS code you will need either one or both for your business formation with the government entities.
3. Getting an EIN if required
4. Setting up a Franchise and Excise Tax and Sales and Use Tax account with the Dept of Revenue in the state you are in. You need to determine if you need one or both of these accounts. Just call the Dept of Revenue in your state and they are usually pretty helpful in answering all your questions.
5. Set up a business bank account or bank account with a DBA attached to it if you plan to do the business as a sole proprietor if you incorporate then a business bank account is what you need.
6. Set up a merchant and or paypal account. The merchant account you can set up through your bank and this allows you to take all major credit cards.
7. Build a website and get a domain name and hosting. You can either build your own website or have one built for you, some start out with a blog because it's free and you can make it look like a standard website so take a look at this option and see if it will work for you. Just keep in mind if you use a blog you need relevant content in the body of the blog if it's just full of product links then you will eventually get shut down. As far as building your own you can either buy software or use the online website builders. Using the software allows you to create your site how you want it just make sure the hosting provider you use will support the software, with the online website builders you will be limited to their templates and I believe you have to use their hosting but you can buy your domain name from anywhere and just direct to their server.
Research SEO for your website, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and you can read about this at any article directory. Once in the directory put in a search for what you are wanting to read about and you should get some articles to read up on. If your search comes up empty or not what you are looking for just reword the search until you do. The info is there you just need to use the right phrasing. If you are on a tight budget you may also look into free ways to market your site.
8. Get inventory.
9. Figure out how you plan to ship product. This all comes down to how you plan to handle inventory. Some people have their own and some get involved with companies that have the product and you sell it and they drop ship the product for you. This saves on you having to carry the product yourself and having unsold inventory in your possession. If you plan to do affiliate marketing then you need to sign up to the affiliate programs and get your code specific links to post on your site.
10. Marketing your website. Just because you publish a website doesn't mean it's visible to the search engines and the public at large so you need to submit the site to the 3 top search engines at the least and start marketing the site. This is a basic order and some of these may overlap each other during the process but I hope this helps out. I've been through the routine and had to figure it all out myself. Just ask a lot of questions with the people you are dealing with to get things in order.

QUESTION:
One of my friends said that affiliate marketing is a great source to earn an extra source of income. What i?
One of my friends said that affiliate marketing is a great source to earn an extra source of income. What is the affiliate marketing actually means?-
ANSWER:
Hi Marine,As an online marketing professional since 1994 I agree with your friend - you can definitely earn extra money doing affiliate marketing. There are lots and lots of really neat products you can offer on your website to sell. I only offer things I like myself that I have personally checked out very thoroughly first.
The first thing you'll want to do is to get a bit of simple education on the subject. After a huge amount of personal research and a lot of disappointments, I took an online course offered by a top affiliate marketing pro and I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased with what I learned.
This would be my advice - first do a simple course, and from there, that will give you the direction to go in which will work for you personally.
You can reach me through my website below and I will answer more questions for you if you like. The main thing is - do NOT part with any money until you are certain you are making a wise investment (that goes for anything in life, too!).
If you just want to get started right away and get some free information or do the course, click on the second link below.
Thanks for asking the same question I was asking a while back!

QUESTION:
How the hell do you make money from affiliate marketing?
How do people make money from home doing affiliate marketing? How do they find out what products they can sell for someone else? How do they generate web traffic? How hard is all of this? Is a home-based business only meant for a very few select group of people?-
ANSWER:
Affiliate programs are the first choice of most newcomers to net earnings because they have many advantages:1. All you have to do is to join a merchant program as an affiliate and send visitors to the merchant site
2. All other work such as making a sale, delivering the product or service, receiving payment, attending to the complaints or making a refund, is handled by the merchant site.
3. The merchant site also sees to it that you are paid commission when a sale is made through your efforts.
4. You are also rewarded when a sale is made through the efforts of an affiliate referred by you to the merchant site.
All easy and simple. But most affiliates soon find that in spite of their best efforts they are not making any money.
This is because the affiliate earnings depend not on how many visitors they send to the merchant site, but how many of them buy the product or service of the merchant.
So just sending visitors to the merchant site is not enough.
You can do this easily by joining traffic exchange or autosurf programs. Your merchant site will be seen hundreds of times but it will not make a sale. This is because these visitors are not interested in your site. They are looking at it to earn credits so they can show their site to others. This is not to say that traffic programs have no use at all.
I have used them successfully to build my downline in free-to-join programs, but have never made a sale through them. Most members of such programs are promoting their own programs. They could get interested in joining other opportunities, but would rarely go for a product themselves. So if you want to earn from affiliate programs, the thing to do is to send interested visitors to your merchant site.
Who is an interested visitor?
This is the visitor who reached your site by himself. He is looking for the product you are promoting. This is why he took the trouble of finding it from a search engine or from the particular kind of ads or forums. This visitor is red hot for a sale. He is already interested in your product. If he finds what he wants on your merchant site, he is very much likely to look at the product's features, mentally compare it with other similar products, ask for more information by giving his email address. All this can lead to a sale and a commission for you.
How to target interested visitors
The best way to reach interested visitors is promoting your products through search engines submissions, placing catchy ads, posting in forums or through your own website. This may sound daunting to newcomers at first but all these are do-able with a little effort. You can get help for mastering all these skills from the resources freely available on the internet.
Joining right affiliate programs can also help a good deal to gain affiliate mastery. While great many affiliate programs give you a few text ads and banners and be done with you, there are some programs that give valuable training to succeed.
Be positive
Most newcomers to internet earning fail because they expect to be rich in a week, if not overnight. When this doesn't happen as it rarely does in real life, they get discouraged. They are also influenced by others who like them tried but failed to earn with affiliate programs. The result -- they give up, frustrated. The reality is that nobody becomes rich overnight in internet marketing. You have to work at it consistently. Most important of all, banish negative thinking from your life and believe that if others have succeeded, you, too, can and will.
That perhaps is the most important ingredient for your success.

QUESTION:
Is it really possible to earn money online with affiliate marketing?
I'm aware of all the data entry and Google scams, but can you make money with affiliate marketing? What are the most effective methods?-
ANSWER:
If you think you are going to make money in affiliate marketing, thousands of people have found the opposite. If you work several hours a day, six days a week, you may make a few hundre dollars a monrh , but even that's not guaranteed. If I was looking to make money in affiliate marketing, I would hire my own employees to do it. Better yet, I would "hire" people who want to make fortunes in on-line marketing.
NO, this is MLM at its worst. You will not make money posting links yourself. You make money getting others to do the work for you. They're called your downstream, and it takes a LOT of time and effort to make enough money to make any real money for yourself. And you can't do it with an investment of 0.00 and then watch the money come rolling it.
MLM is not about selling a product or service. It's about getting other people to sell your products or services for a fraction I would of what I would have to pay my own employees.
Forget about the Ferrari and the mountain chalet. Thinks about the Fiat (high mileage and heavy maintainence and thnik about a deapidated cabin.

QUESTION:
What is the best marketing product online that can be used for affiliate marketing?
I am currently doing some research at the moment on website design and have just learned about affiliate markeing and how to use these, basic level only. Any help would be good to carry on with my studies.-
ANSWER:
What's the best product, you say? That's an extremely tough question to answer, Darren, because it just depends...Here are some quick steps to help you get started...
Step 1:
Think about your own interests first. Do you like video games? Gadgets? Fitness? Marital Aids? Dating? Etc.Step 2:
If you are just starting out, I would recommend that you begin this adventure with digital products. Easy to fulfill, and low production cost means the merchant can usually afford to give you (the affiliate) a nice big cut of the sale. E-books, E-courses, and software.Once you kind of have an idea about your interests, you need to figure out if there are good products out there with affiliate programs, and if a market exists for the product. You don't want to waste time, energy, and money on something no one is going to buy, right.
Step 3:
Do some research. I like to check the magazine and the books section of Amazon. Navigate to the Magazine Subscriptions section and click on the category that most closely matches your interests. Notice that Amazon lets you know which subscriptions are the top sellers (Customer Favorites). This is great data. Also, if there is a magazine, then there are probably people who buy and read it. This is also great information.Anyway, all we are trying to do here is determine if there is a viable market for our interest, and trying to identify a specific product to promote. So let's just say you are interested in fitness, so you go to Health, Mind, and Body category, and you see that Maximum Fitness is a top seller, and you are an exercise nut. Cool, looks like it's probably a seller, and the cover is a buff dude with a six pack stomach. Well who doesn't ant that?
Step 4:
Find a good product with an affiliate program. A good place to start is clickbank for digital product. Go to the marketplace, select the Health and Fitness category, and browse the list. This is sorted by popularity as well, so most popular products are listed first. In the list you see several products that seem good, but maybe Truth About Abs catches your eye, and you decide that you want to look deeper into the product.Step 5:
Make sure you are a believer. Check out the product sales page, subscribe to the list, hell, if you want to really understand it, just buy it. Go through the entire process that your prospective referrals will go through. If there's an inconsistency, you might want to scrap it and look for something else. If they do what they say, and they over deliver the value, than it's probably a winner.Step 6:
Sign up for the affiliate program and access the affiliate tools. Pick a recommended traffic strategy as suggested in the affiliate area, call or email the affiliate manager and speak to them about what methods are working, and just do it. Get out there and promote it. Write some articles, run a small PPC campaign, set up a blog, start some social media, and you are an affiliate marketer.Good luck...
Oh yeah, and watch out for all the crap. There's a ton of bad info out there.

ANSWER:
Including tough economic era in the lead us it seems be fond of a fantastic time to look into a section-time online affair. Many people dread responsibility affair over the internet, but those fears can be overcome as people learn how simple starting your own affair really is. Building your own website has by no means been simpler and web hosting runs for less than at many venues. Companies such as Yahoo and FatCow place forward deals that slash even the meager a month web hosting fees. As you hold yearly subscriptions your web hosting cost can occur down to as low as or a month. Compare that cost to opening up a brick and mortar store including tremendous overhead. Including your low-cost website you can mount a passionate attack to boost your chances of earning an superfluous paycheck.

What exactly, does Incentivized mean in affiliate marketing terms?
Could someone explain in detail what this term means relating to affiliate banners and the like? I have a affiliate offer that says Incentivized is allowed; what does this mean?-
ANSWER:
It means a way to encourage people to take some action (visit your site, buy your products etc.) by offering them some kind of bonus."(..) My last incentivized program, which was paid to read email ads, sent my email to 4000 subscribers. I had only 350 clicks and zero sales. Shows you that most people don't even feel the service is worth anything and don't even bother to open the emails even though doing so gives them credits"

QUESTION:
who can i trust to help me as a novice in affiliate marketing?
I am just starting out barely know what i am doing. I get email offers all the time selling all manor of different traffic generating software but who out there is honestly interested in bring someone up in the ranks more so than making a quick buck? I guess i want to know what the super affiliates already know but who's willing to teach someone with a limited income? Or should i be looking at some affiliate group forum for support?-
ANSWER:
There are a lot of people out there who will try to sell you their "system" and you can waste a lot of money on a program that you really don't need. Here is a simple way to get started for free!
1. You want to have a website or webpage with a topic or focus of something that you are interested in and know something about or are willing to do some research to learn more about it. Start with a free blog or Squidoo page. The important thing is to write good interesting original content, not just publish a page with a bunch of random spammy links.
2. After you have created a website or page with interesting original content and photos about your topic, apply to affiliate programs and look for companies that have products that fit in with the topic of your pages.
3. Here are some affiliate programs that I like:
Zazzle - you can create and design your own online store of products by downloading your favorite photos and then post a few products related to your topic or in some cases perhaps a link to your store on your website: http://www.zazzle.com/vickisims?rf=238110270365818601Linkshare is a company that has many advertisers to choose from, and you get paid with one check from Linkshare for all of your sales.: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/stat?id=u5gSYs0n6aI&offerid=7097.10000025&type=3&subid=0
Share-a –sale is another company similar to LinkShare - they have many advertisers that you can choose from and you are paid in one check every month from LinkShare for all sales: http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=69&u=360104&m=47&urllink=&afftrack
All Posters - You can use the links to the posters and pictures at All Posters in your webpages to add some great photos and illustrations plus you may sell a few: http://affiliates.allposters.com/link/redirect.asp?AID=1581418438&PSTID=1<ID=19&LID=112&ParentAID=1581418438&lang=1
There are numerous other free affiliate marketing programs, but with some you must earn in commissions before you are paid so it is better to start off using one company with lots of different advertisers that have products that fit your topic to be able to reach the payment threshold faster. Then as you create more pages and learn how to generate traffic to them, you can expand to additional programs.
4. After you've created a page or two you can learn more about SEO and getting traffic to your website through the use of backlinks by linking all of your websites, blog pages and Squidoo pages to each other. You can also get back links on numerous other social networking sites, message boards and blogs.
I would recommend starting with creating pages (called lenses) on Squidoo. They have a pretty easy to use system of modules and you can even earn income directly from Squidoo by including their Amazon and eBay modules. Pick products from Amazon and eBay related to the topic of your page and if anyone clicks on your product link and buys something you earn a commission. You can also add your own affiliate program links to your pages. Here is an example of how you can put them all together to make a great page: http://www.squidoo.com/Seattle-Pike-Place-Market
Notice how the selling modules and affiliate programs must be appropriate to the topic and helpful to the reader for it to work well. People get turned off fast from a site that screams BUY, BUY, BUY - they must get some good information from the page to stick around and possibly eventually click out on a link.
Squidoo also has great community support and lots of pages about affiliate marketing. They also have a message board where you can learn a lot. If you'd like to get started making a Squidoo page (called a lens) here is a link: http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/VickiSims5. Create more pages on related or different topics that interest you. It helps if you can pick a niche or two that have topics that are related.
You won't make a lot of money right away - it does take time and effort, but you won't lose any money on a bunch of scams either.

QUESTION:
From an advertiser's Point of view what is the best affiliate marketing site to sign up to?
Yeah, basically says it all in the title.
I want to know which is easier to use, has most high quality affiliates, is cheapest from advertiser's point of view. I have had experience from being an affiliate and buying from Click bank, just wondering if there was a better option. It would also be nice if it was easy to integrate the affiliate system into an existing WordPress site.-

QUESTION:
Is there a way to know how many sales I make in affiliate marketing business?
Hi. I am an affiliate of several companies that sell products and services. My question is how do I know if I made any sales? These organizations claim that they attach cookies to visitors that come from my site and if they buy their product/service I get paid. What if i make 10 sales but they only tell me that I made 1? Is there a way to check them? I don't want to get ripped off for my efforts. Is there some kind of tracking device?-
ANSWER:
If you're dealing with reputable companies, don't worry. They're more than willing to pay you a few bucks to keep the program attractive to you and others just like you. Some companies use promotional codes to identify which affiliate send the business their way. The problem with these programs is that your friends might forget to insert the promo code. If the program also gives your friend a discount, then she is highly motivated to insert the code. Try to select these.
It isn't in anybody's interest to cheat you or other affiliates. Publicly traded companies must prove that they have adequate controls of all their financial dealings, and this would just be one of the items that would have to pass that test. If you're working with a small, privately-held company, it's possible that the controls aren't there. But, these companies need you far more that the big boys do, and they know that making sure you earn good dollars is the best way to keep the sales rolling in.

ANSWER:
I am a full-time Affiliate Marketer and I received my training at WAU. It's a great place to start and you will become an expert within weeks. I'm very happy with the income I earn, especially knowing its only limited by my actions or lack of actions.I recommend you review the training, decide what kind of niche you want to dominate and take consistent action. Some of the Top Affiliate Marketers are earning 6 figures, most without investing any money other than training.
FYI: Be careful of those scammy "get-rich-quick" websites. This business takes effort and time, but extremely worth it in the end.

QUESTION:
What are some free ways to advertise my affiliate marketing website?
I have absolutely no money right now to use for advertising my affiliate marketing website. I just paid a web designer to develop a coupon like site that promotes affiliate products, but I have not made any money on it yet (it's only a month old) and now I don't have money for advertising. What do you suggest I use for completely free advertising?-
ANSWER:
There are actually plenty of free ways to advertise your website. Things like article marketing and Squidoo are a great way to get backlinks to your website and advertise it. Write up a few articles that relate to your website and then post then on places like ezinearticles and other free article directories. You can also check out making a Squidoo page or a Hub Page that relates to your website.Another way to advertise your website is to join any forums where you think people would be interested in your website and put the link in your signature. Just be sure that you don't spam the forums and try to participate according to the rules of the forum.
A great way that you can advertise your affiliate marketing website is through social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. These are free to make accounts on and then just spend a couple of days trying to find some friends that may be interested in your website.
If you want more options for free advertising I recommend that you check out the website www.mattbacak.com. He has great information on there and even has a newsletter and membership group that you can sign up for.

QUESTION:
What can someone tell me about affiliate marketing?
I am thinking about using affiliate marketing on my website, where I'm selling an e-book. I don't know much about it, but was wondering if anyone's used it before and what things I should consider before going ahead with it.-
ANSWER:
Find out if there is an affiliate program related to the book you want to sell. If it's an ebook, you'll most likely find it on clickbank. If it's a hard copy, you could join any merchant that offers this book and has an affiliate or partner program (amazon, barnes&nobles,...).
Then you place your referral link on your website, each time someone clicks on your link and buys, you get a commission. The hardest thing will be to get traffic to your site, starting out I would definitely recommend article marketing as this doesn't cost you anything. You write articles related to the product you're selling and then link them to your website/blog with the review.
You can start with affiliate marketing for free, so apart from the time and effort you have to put in, there really is nothing to lose.

QUESTION:
How much can I expect to make with affiliate marketing with my food site?
I am about to launch a site that has lots of quick cooking lessons, as well as recipes, product recommendations, secret ingredients, etc. I will of course link to all the online food stores, equipment makers, ebay, etc.My forcast is for several hundred hits a day, but possibly thousands.
Can anyone give me an idea of what I can expect?
Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Is this your first experience with affiliate marketing? From talking with other marketers and my own personal experience, affiliate marketing is a lot more difficult than it would seem at first glance. How much can I expect to make on an given affiliate marketing product is certainly a good question to ask. Unfortunately, it is not an easy question to answer. There are many variables to consider as I would try to answer the question for myself, if I were in your place right now.
The first question I always ask myself is, "would I buy the product at the price listed?" If I would not buy it at the price, I have to ask myself "How much of a market is there for this product?" Obviously, I can't make money with affiliate products unless someone is willing to buy it.
I also want to know some background about the company and their financial and management history. If I am going to spend my time and money to promote a product, I want to know the company will be around for a long time.
If everything is fine so far, now we need to define exactly who makes up the target market or markets we want to reach and we need to know where the market segment spends their time on line. Even though we might say everyone should be interested in food, not everyone would be interested in cooking lessons and recipes.
I have listed only a few of the variables which will determine how much, if any, money you will make with a given affiliate marketing product or program. Others like your web site, well written marketing letters, advertising, followup and how many other people are marketing the same product or program, will also greatly affect how much you will make.
Once you put together the answers to all of these questions, you may still not know how much you will make, but those answers should give you a much better idea about whether or not you can make a profit with this venture.
I hope this helps. If you care to discuss this further, feel free to contact me through my 360.Yahoo site.
To Your Success.

QUESTION:
How can I make money with affiliate marketing? Ive tried it for a year and not made a dime. Help!?
I have been trying to make a little money with affiliate marketing for over a year. I have not made a dime. I have followed the instructions I have received, but no sales. I have no money and can,t try buying my way in. What can I try?HELP!-
ANSWER:
I know you're asking an honest question, and feel like you are struggling, and failing at something you really wanted to do and succeed in. I'm sorry that the last poster laughed and said you were "sucked in".I also am an affiliate marketer, and it is something that I love to do! I have been doing it since November, and no I am not making thousands a week, or a month, but it is getting to a point where I am seeing a profit. But, I do mostly PPC advertising, so I am just trying to stay even for now until I figure out the right products and the right keywords to make it work.
That is what the "super affiliates" do. Some may be very lucky to be able to make big money right away, but I am sure that most of the "gurus" have been at this for years before something clicked for them and they made a fortune.
What can you try? I would say if you really like affiliate marketing, like I do, learn all you can about Internet marketing--read everything you can. Do you have any keyword tools? Those help me a lot, since you need to find keywords which have less competition. I have 2 different ones, plus I use Google's keyword tool.
Do you have a website? Or do you just advertise your affiliate links?
If you find the right niche, and make a website about that niche, and include advertising for the affiliate products on the website, choose the right keywords, and get your website included in the search engines and get traffic to your site, then that will begin to just run on autopilot.
That takes several weeks to get a site listed in the search engines, so continue advertising your affiliate links through other ways. PPC if you have some advertising money available, or through traffic exchanges, email campaigns, etc.If you continue to learn and apply all you can (not just what the affiliate programs tell you to do), invest some money into helpful software (like keyword tools), make your own websites with your own domain (so you don't have to compete with others of the same affiliate programs), and just continue plugging away at advertising in different ways (articles, blogs, social networking, etc), you WILL start seeing a profit!!
BELIEVE you can succeed, and don't focus on the sales (or lack thereof). All it will take is finding the right combination, and you will be successful! Affiliate marketing is a legitimate way to make money (too bad other people don't understand that, and judge it wrongly...).
Blessings on your marketing ventures!

QUESTION:
what is url masking for affiliate marketing?
I heard that when affiliates "mask" url, it is better from the search engine perspective. It is less likely that my keywords will become inactive as google adword does not see this as a link to affiliate site. Is this true? Please explain.-
ANSWER:
I use a product called Super Affiliate Link Manager. There is a link in my profile. It takes your affiliate link and makes it pretty, short, and you can cloak it so that your affiliate ID cannot be removed.People will find a way to get around it if they really want to but most of the time it isn't a problem.
Good luck and I hope you find your answer!

QUESTION:
How many keywords do you think is good for a ppc campaign for affiliate marketing?
Im starting a pay per click program for a product. When running ppc campaings what is a good number amount of keywords to use?-
ANSWER:
It entirely depends on the product. Consider what is known as the 'long tail' of search marketing. That is, the hundreds of different variations or related searches people may type that might bring you traffic. There might be 1000s giving lots of opportunities for people to see your ad.very often the keywords you think are going to bring lots of traffic turn out to be very expensive as your competition is also bidding on those terms. It is often a good idea to avoid the popular terms and stick to the cheap 'long tail' terms.
You can then pre qualify your clicks by ensuring that the name, availability and cost of your item are mentioned in your ad. This way you are more likely to only spend money on clicks that are likely to convert to business.
Good luck.

QUESTION:
The most preferable specific gravity for affiliate marketing?
Back in 2002 it was between 8 and 75. What is it now?-
ANSWER:
As above, you should be looking for a product in the 20 to 100 which shows its gravity increasing and not decreasing. You really never can be sure, so spread yourself out and have several different campaigns targeting different products. This way you will find one that for some reason (does it really matter?
) sells much better than the others. I then drop the weaker products (not all just the ones that aren't performing well) and then focus on the ones that are performing better.

QUESTION:
How does affiliate marketing work?
Let's say, you're selling something for 00 and giving 0 commission per item to each affiliate (40% commission). What if people who want to buy your product are smart enough to sign up as your affiliate, buy the product, pay 00 and get 0 back, thereby ending up paying only 0 nett.
Wouldn't it spoil the whole affiliate marketing structure?
-
ANSWER:
In your example, you are only going to get 0 in either case. You are always going to be "losing" the 0 as a selling fee to your affiliate. So you have to price your product so that 0 is enuf for you to make a profit and stay in business. You have hit upon the weakest part of the "affiliate" business model. If you can cut out the middleman, you can save a lot of money. In the 1950's everything went thru "wholesalers". Now they hardly exist.

QUESTION:
What does the affiliate marketing term "job traffic" mean?
There is an offer that states that it accepts "job traffic" and my network manager is gone for the day.-
ANSWER:
I believe that it means that they accept resumes for people looking for jobs. You mention affiliate marketing. In this instance it would be like a "finders fee". Someone is looking for a job, someone else finds them one and gets a little commission. This is what typical affiliate marketing is about: getting a commission for selling a product. You can find out more on affiliate marketing at

QUESTION:
What type of insurance do I need for affiliate marketing?
I plan to be an affiliate marketer for large Web sites, such as Amazon. I will specifically promote a camping stool and then direct people to sites where the people can purchase the stool.Do I need liability insurance as the affiliate marketer? If yes, what do you recommend? Or can I just ask customers to click on a link that absolves me of responsibility?
-
ANSWER:
The only insurance you need, will be insurance required by the contracts you have with sites like Amazon. You can't "opt out" of responsiblity by having someone sign a waiver, or click a button. You can have them do it, but it doesn't get you off the hook.
Likely, your contracts are going to require liability coverage with broad form vendors, and additional insureds for the marketplace website; workers compensation, commercial auto hired & nonowned liability, and possibly umbrella liability coverage.
